I've been 35+ MBPS on my Verizon network... It's pretty fucking fast by anybody's standards.

Its frequently faster than my pc connection at home...

Battery life isn't too great on SG2. But that is because I am using 4G and a lot of web surfing and email. But, I can easily purchase another battery for just $5-$10 on Amazon/eBay.

I went for the Galaxy SII. I don't really care about phones but I got a good contract paying about the same as I am at the moment so I thought why not.

Galaxy is quite large and I don't like the size of it but it is very light. I don't watch a lot of videos so I don't mind having an iphone size screen but if you do watch videos trust me the Galaxy is brilliant. I think it's a great phone. I've had it for about a week now and I think it's very easy to use and has lots of little smart things about it. The camera is very good too btw.

My boss has a Xoom (which I make fun of regularly) that was just upgraded to LTE and he gets faster downstream speeds than our company WiFi. His DL speed through the LTE was in the mid-teens.

I don't know anything about android, but will current android devices be upgradable to android 4.0 or is that also a hardware thing? BTW, I have a samsung SGII and I am curious if this will be possible?

ICS will come out for it eventually, probably. However, if you want to get it in a timely manner, you're going to have to root and install a custom ROM. Samsung SUCKS at updating that stuff.

After having iPhone 3G and iPhone4 for the past few years I just switched to the Galaxy SII a few days ago. Still learning a lot about it but so far I would say:

Pros:
Internet seems to be faster
Screen much bigger
Youtube app is way better with high quality video
WAY better speakers if you want to listen to music on the phone
I like not dealing with iTunes and being able to hook it up with MicroUSB
Changeable battery
Camera is awesome
Page layout is slick

Cons:
Keyboard doesn't seem quite as accurate as iPhone - I always had all autocorrect / word suggestion off on iPhone but liked the way the keyboard felt
BIG one - Can't select multiple emails for deletion
Gyroscope and accelerometer motion is more "jumpy"
Interface is easy to use, but not quite as simple as iPhone
I don't like that recent texts are included in the logs section under phone. Can't seem to find a way to turn just that off - you can select just missed calls, just made calls, etc but you can't see all calls without texts included
Can't turn off the text notification (shows the actual message at the top of the phone - which I don't like) and still have it make a sound to alert you of new message
To get to your home page (it seems) you have to open a new window - there should be a one-click icon to get you to your homepage without menu or setting that says, "go to Homepage"

Swiftkey App. TRUST ME, so worth the money. You can text like your 15 shot deep and it still articulates sentences perfectly...So accurate.

All very good points. It's always been my impression that these phones out-of-the-box are only a fraction of what they could be. If you head over to the xda dev forums, you'll see all kinds of ROMs and apps, a lot of which address a lot of cons you listed. The iPhones IMO have always been better out of the box.

I'm personally running the (AT&T) CogX2 Beta4 with Entropy's 10/13 DD kernel along with all kinds of non-stock apps to deal with the daily uses (Handcent for SMS, Google Voice for voicemail to text, etc...). You will like your phone so much better once rooted and hacked to oblivion.

It should, and the rumor is the materials are much better on the outside, more akin to an HTC offering.

I'm assuming under style you chose - rapid, relying on autocorrect?
