Chinese are RICH!
Man, I cant get over how much wealth the Chinese have nowadays. Not only that, but they spend it like crazy on their kids when they come over here for school. I once went to Aston Martin in Newport Beach, and the sales manager told us how 3 sales last month were to 2 high school students, and a community college kid. It was a Rapide, DB9, and DBS. As you know, these cars range from 200-260k!! Even at UC Santa Barbara, I saw an 18 year old freshman park in a 2012 Cayenne Turbo. Does anyone else notice this trend?

They're called parachute kids. Parents make a fortune in Asia then proceed to send all their children here for a better education. They're spoiled as heck. I know a few and they're normal people like anyone else. Whether they deserve it or not isn't really for us to judge. Envy strikes hard sometimes.

Not sure it's a trend
it has been happening up here in Honcouver for years. The latest was the street race "google exotic car seizure street racing in Vancouver" , Lambo, Ferrari, Aston Martin, GTR , couple other highend cars. Seven or eight all seized recently and going to auction/ I believe all owned by Asian school/college kids. The kid with the Lambo isn't appealing, his parents already bought him a replacement. Now that is just not right.

I went to high school my Junior and Senior year in a pretty affluent area where some parents spoiled their kids brand new M3's and Toyota Supras. Yea I was jealous and thought life wasn't fair, but there's nothing you can do.
Most of these rich kids are going to grow up unable to make a living themselves. They just go around pretending like they're someone important. I actually look down on these people knowing all they have in life is Papa's money. |

compare to China, cars here are very cheap, like 2012 GTR sell like $100K here, but China sell around 1.7M Yuan about $270K, you can buy almost 3 GTR in USA.... M3 is sold for 1M yuan about $150K at China.

I once checked a 19 year old girl from Hong Kong into the Four Seasons and she had a black card and it wasnt the plastic one, it was the aluminum one. O yea, she was also attending Stanford, ah envy.

yes this is happening on rich people here in China.
Most of them get rich in 10 or 20 years, and since luxury cars is relative cheap in US, why not buy some fancy toys for their child ? we are short of supply of everything in the childhood, those rich people want to satisfy the next generation with everything ..... BTW, my 535LI here in Beijing cost me over USD100K, still lots of options missing. |

There's like a billion people in China. Even if you only had 1% of the population that are rich and control everyone else, you're talking about 10,000,000 people. That's a lot of rich Chinese looking to send their kids abroad for school. My buddy from high school hooked up with a rich Chinese girl. They get more money from the parents than he makes in a year as a lawyer. It must be nice to marry rich.
Anyway, I read an article recently that a lot of wealthy Chinese are looking to take their money out of China. They also send their kids out to have children abroad so if the Communists start locking things down, they've got an escape plan. Hey, I would'nt mind the Chinese coming over here and start spending their money and maybe buying up some property. |

Most rich Chinese are getting rich from stealing trade secrets and raping others' intellectual property, so no matter the zeros in the bank accounts, they're all slimy toads to me. Of course, this is a statement made from someone who strongly dislikes China, so take my comments for what they're worth!
