The E36 M3 is car of the past century, interesting question is what car will be titled as car of this century. It will be known in about 9 decades from now which means most likely none of us will know.

Very nice read. Thx Jason

That E24 M635CSi is something that I need to get sometime in the future. IMHO it is the best looking BMW ever.

No, read again, just before the ending with the diesel cars, I quote for you:

"Today: Highly charged company for high performances.

At the end of 2010, M GmbH again expanded its product range and presented the 1 Series Coupé, a 340 hp car in the compact class. The straight six-cylinder with M TwinPower Turbo and petrol direct injection had an easy time with the muscular lightweight vehicle. This is obvious with a power-to-weight ratio of just 4.4 kilograms per hp."

However, it really misses something which is the actual significance of 1M. So, it would be better if they write something along the lines of this maybe:

http://rumors.automobilemag.com/40-y...rs-139551.html

There is a car missing in that article too but nothing and no one is perfect, never

Looks like your image search broke toward the end so, here you go:

Also, Automobile has a feature on their top M cars:

Great article - thanks so much for posting this.

My favorite car maybe of all time is the 1998-2002 BMW M Coupe - it is what defines "bad ass" in my book.

It was great to read the history of M and great choice of pics as well!

Yeah, that thing was boss! My neighbor had a silver one way back in 2000 or 2001 and I remember it being one of the first BMWs I ever really loved. Then I got to ride in an E34 M5 a year later and was hooked.
