Be prepared for it to hurt, quite a bit.

You will probably be OK then.

Depends on the location of the tat. My sister is getting one on the inside of her wrist removed. Due to the bone there, there is a dead spot where the lidocaine shot they give her doesn't work, so she feels everything. She passed out last time.

Good luck

It might not go away completely, but it should be a bit faint.

Had an attempted removal several years ago but went with a cover up on that one, mistake from my youth. Anyhow it does depend on the colors and your skin type. Black being easier to remove faint colors like yellow, lighter blues and whites very hard. Pain wise not that bad, again I have quite a few tattos. Mine did not come up that good, was a garage tat from the 70's so the quality was not very good and had it covered up with a larger tribal design after the first session just made it a blurry mess. You do have to have several sessions and there is a waiting time in between, depends on how fast you heal and they say each session is more sensitive to your skin. I do know that covering it up after the first session was worse than any one I have ever received as far as discomfort. To me if no one can see it and it's not anyones name or initials who cares but that's up to you.

You can see it when I wear a bikini or if Im just in my panties or when I bend over if my shirt isnt long enough. Everytime someone sees it, they say something about it. Ive had it 6 years and the comments started to seriously annoy me 2 years ago. Last week at a store I bend over to grab something from a lower shelf and some guy said something about it. Its really really aggravating.

Oh you'll probably be fine then. Good luck with it. And on the people getting on your nerves, some people just can't mind their own business....

Well at least it's black so it will be easier to break apart the pigment with the laser and then it's up to your body to get rid of those broken pigments which should go away but it just takes multiple sessions. There will be some swelling and redness. I have seen some tattoo removals only take a few sessions while others can take 10. It just depends on the size and more importantly color but since it's black that's fine. The ones I have seen gone wrong and look worse are the ones that had color like red, yellow, blue, green. Also the cost will be more expensive than the tattoo itself especially if it's a lot of sessions and will hurt more than getting the tattoo but you said you had a high pain threshold so that's good.

find a competent dermatologist using a modern laser (cutera and candella are two top vendors) and you should be good...the downside...it's not cheap

does this one fall into the category of modern: q-switched Nd: Yag laser

this is what the most reputable clinic around my area uses...just curious as i'm looking to possibly get one removed as well.
