You bring up an interesting point about barely used vs. new. You can save thousands on our types of cars if you buy a 1 or 2 year old model. I've just always been weary about why the car is back on the market so soon and I would never trust the salesman to give me a straight answer. I mean just because a car has a "clean carfax" doesn't mean the car never had "issues".

i'd estimate that most of the time, it's a lease return, someone who couldn't afford it, or a baller who just has to have a new car all the time

In my case, the 1M was so sought after that I didn't end up saving any money and I likely would have paid less if I had been able to buy new. I wanted it badly, it was priced "fairly" considering the crazy amount people were/still are asking for these things, and it was local so I couldn't pass. PPI turned out great, as it should have and the rest is history. I bought it from an individual and almost immediately after meeting him I knew he was an enthusiast which was a reassurance.
