i have a similar setup i run 24/7 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...2&postcount=42

its OCed so it uses a rather high wattage even idle, and those fans are 3 watts each(x7) vs 1 water pump which is 5 watts

total cost to run it 24/7 in a month @150watts, 10$; so your bf was doing something else

anyway i called those fuckers and they wouldnt give me the time of day, kept telling me it was my A/C theres no fing way my AC all of a sudden doubled its powe consumption, even if i put it on 60 degrees it couldn't do that

all the previous months have benn ~800kwh, last month i supposedly used 1500 kwh, thats BS total and complete bullshit

$200? That's it? Haha. I wish I only paid that little of a amount. I pay about $300 every month for my apartment.

i got $200 bill but i think its for 2 months... i only had AC on for like 1 week and house is 3000+ sq.ft. ... so it's alright, BUT during winter it's a KILLER, always f@cking 300-500/month for heating

First, check the meter reading. Most are electronic now and read by a sensor but some still have dials and sometimes, my utility estimates the reading - I guess the reader was ill or on vacation.

For someone to be stealing from you it would have to be tapped in after the meter. Unlikely but look anyway.

The biggest power hogs in a dwelling are usually the AC, the water heater and the dryer.

Clean the dryer vent and the AC filters.

What I would do is get a clampmeter and measure your amperage at different times. You have to know what you are doing since you will need to remove the cover to your panelboard. I'm an electrical engineer so it is no big deal but electricity will kill you so only do this if you really know what you are doing.

1600KWh means you are using about 50kwh per day which (on average) is about 2000 watts at any time. I have a 3000 sq ft house and I only use about 1500KWh/mo on the hottest months so I feel something is wrong.

Check the meter every day to see what it reads.

Have your electric company come out and check their wiring, your definitely leaking it somewhere.....Someone has to be hooked up to your wiring.
