its amazing no matter how great a movie is, there will always be disappointed people. I didnt see it yet, but its supposed to be an amazing movie. Cant touch Denzel. Hes one of the best

it was aiiiiight... should have been 2 hours rather than 2 3/4. Now the Jay-Z album American Gangster, THAT is horrible!!!

You expected a recently released movie not to suck?

I have yet to see the film but bet the only reason why it will be good at al is because of Denzel.

Russell crowe is a joke of an actor and a douchebag in real life.

The only movie I am looking forward to is Juno. I'll be seeing it for free soon since Fox is doing free movie screenings everywhere including Boston.

Otherwise I hate to sound cliche but only old movies and some indie movies are worthwhile now.

I think Russell Crowe is a great actor. You shouldn't judge a persons acting on their actions in real life. (You sound biased)
There hasn't been a good movie out in a while.. American Gangster was pretty good, but other than that, nothing..

I am not judging his acting based on how he acts in real life. I think he is a bad actor. What amazingly hard roles has he done? That weren't hyped up or talked about which causes people to think he is good.

Also I feel I can judge what he does in real life. If he looked at child porn everyone would hate him and say screw his movies.

A Good Year (2006)
Cinderella Man (2005)
Master and Commander (2003)
A Beautiful Mind (2001)
Gladiator (2000)

All were great movies, and he was a very believable actor in all of them.
All of them are very different roles as well. I do however think that in American Gangster his accent was a little forced. He was good none the less.

I have seen 3 of those movies. Easy acting that could have been done by many others. Again, yawn just another douchebag from some random place like Ireland, Austalia and just gets hyped up for no reason.

Denzel washington, Edward Norton and others are true male actors that are amazing.

Well list some actors that have had a challenge in a movie, because to me it seems like all roles are pretty easy to play.
Denzel is pretty good, but I didn't like him that much in 'Inside Man'.. He seemed fake.. :/
Norton's accent in 'The Illusionist' also seemed to be off in parts of the movie, it wasn't constant.
They are both great actors, but I bet if either one of them said something in public that you didn't like, you would immediately deem them bad actors.

It's not what someone says it's how they constantly act. And russel crowe is an asshole who just is dumb. And he can't compare to either of the two actors I mentioned who have had much more emtional roles.

I saw it last night, I thought it was a really good movie.

As far as comparing it to The Godfather? It's a gangster movie, of course it's going to have similarities. I thought Denzel did an excellent job, Russel Crowe did a good job as well. I dont really have any complaints, it was just a really well put together movie. I thought they captured the era, and did a great job of taking you back to that time in American history. I really liked how they used authentic news casts to add to the feel of realism.

I dont know if it was as good as The Departed, but it's definatly up there as far as recent gangster movies are concerned.

I'd give it 8.5 out of 10, highly recommended.
