Hi, I'm Fred. Long time lurker, 1st post.
I am originally from Montreal but now reside in Boston. I currently drive a 1991 325i with the Canadian Sport Package (for those who know the E30) as a summer car. My daily driver is a 2002 VW Golf TDi. I never thought I would sell my E30, but when I look at the 135i, especially at it's reverse-angled nose, I see a 2008 E30. I just need it! I may wait for MY2009 to see what it offers but I certainly envy you guys that have a car waiting for the boat! Proud to be a 1addict! |

Hey everyone, I'm Kris living in Colorado Springs, CO but trying to get back to San Antonio, TX. My wife always wanted and BMW and we finally picked one up before Xmas last year. A 2005 330xi. I fell in love with it/BMW and now want one for myself. I'm more performance minded so the 135i seems like the perfect option for me. I hope to join the club within a year of its actual release. Hope to see you all on the road. Cheers.

Hello,
My name is Andrew and I live in Los Angeles. I have been looking at this forum religiously for the last several months (since I saw the "1" for the first time). I went to the LA auto show right after I started learning about the "1". When I arrived, I immediately went to the beemers to see it in person. It was Sedona and I couldn't stop staring at it. I was disappointed that it was surrounded by ropes, but nonetheless was glad to see it was all I had hoped for....I really have become obsessed with it and hope that it lives up to the hype and expectations when I get my first test drive. In 2002 I bought a brand new Z3 2.5i / Triple Black. I sold it in 2005 and terribly regretted it. For 3 years, I begged the buyer to sell it back to me. I was attached to the car beyond words can describe - only a BMW owner can relate. I was incredibly happy behind the wheel of that car. In December 2007 she finally sold it back to me and I was happier than you can imagine. However, being that I have two small children, the idea of three cars in the driveway is not practical right now. So, last month, I sold the Z3 back to the same person that had just sold it back to me - - - just so that I can buy the "1"..... I have decided on the 128i because I like the flood lights in front, and I "don't" like the grey lower backside of the 135i. And I like the idea of spending a few thousand less for basically the same car as the 135i. I was convinced for a year that I would buy the 335i Convertible, but $60K is not in my budget at this time. The 128i I would get is $41K loaded. I read that you can send information to the idrive from your computer. Is this true? If so, what are some examples of information that could be sent? And so, the big question....Jet Black, Montego, or Sedona? Jeeze, they are all beautiful. The Jet Black is the classiest without a doubt. I have read mixed reviews of the Sedona - does anyone feel that it's too flashy? Do you guys think that a Sedona sitting at a red light is going to get the uncomfortable staring? I am really not the type who wants attention - or do you think that it will more or less blend in with the traffic? Is Sedona really for "younger" people, or is it ok for a "soon to be" middle aged person? Thanks for welcoming me - and for your opinions and advice on color choice! For the record, I am leaning towards Jet Black - but am interested in trying something new. All my cars were always Black, White, or Silver. Thanks again.... |

Hi everyone I'm Steve, I drive a MKV GTI (pic in my sig) its lightly modded at this point and I absolutely love it. This is my first post and haven't really lurked yet. I've recently taken a liking to the new 335 and now the 135. Looking forward to learning more about the BMW culture and hoping that its somewhat similar to the VW culture because it sure is a lot of fun.

Welcome aboard. If Sedona does not cause the gag reflex in you like it does for many members here and the fact that you found yourself staring at it for a long time at the show, I would suggest going for it. Most people commenting on it here have only ever seen it in artificial lighting and it is a colour that is extremely dendent on ambient lighting. I have seen it in the real world and I love it. I do not believe it to be too flashy for a "soon to be middle ager" (take this from an already there middle ager) I would suggest that you live a little and go for Sedona, unless you want to merely blend in with the rest of the cars around you.

Hey I'm John. Been a long time BMW fan. Second I read the article that the 1 series might be heading for the USA, I was hooked. I've owned plenty of cars. I think though the 1 series is going to be the one I keep. I currently drive a 04 330ci. I joined this forum because you learn tons of stuff about this car and its a pretty cool community.

Hi SA135i,
Thanks for replying and for your valued opinion. I agree with you on all points and really like the Sedona. However, all my friends and family are trying to talk me out of it. The last thing I want is to be driving it every day thinking people are laughing or saying "what an ugly color", etc. Knowing me, my comfort zone is time spent out of the spotlight, and will most likely get Jet Black with Black interior and poplar grey trim. I wish I had the guts to take your advice and "live a little", but it is a big purchase and may have to play it safe. Thanks again for your help! |

Hi my name is Andrea- I currently own an Accord coupe but am looking to buy/lease a car in the next three months. Coming from a family that always owned Japanese cars, I was never into BMW that much until my boyfriend leased an e92 328i last year. Now I am seriously considering the 128i and am glad this forum is around to give me tons of info to help me decide!

Im Kevin. I ordered my Alpine White 135i with taupe leatherette, iPod/USB adaptor, silver trim and a 6MT. I currently drive a 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS and cannot wait until my 1 is delivered in 8-10 weeks, hopefully it will be less.

Hey there! I'm new in every respect to this forum and topic -- I'm probably the odd minority of minorities in here (I prefer mass transit, walking, or biking everywhere, drive 2 days out of the week on average). I'm in my mid 30s, have only owned 2 cars since I was 17; a hand-me-down 1986 Buick Century that quickly became mechanically undesirable and was replaced with a 1994 Toyota 4Runner. The 4Runner gave me 14 great years, but at 140k miles, there's enough repair work under its shiny hood that needs fixing that I may as well get a new car. Sadly (or fortunately, depending how you look at it), the 1-Series is the only car that catches my eye (well the only one that I wouldn't have to sell one of my homes for). I've not yet ordered one though, I need to sit, poke, prod, drive, climb in/around one before I write that check.
BMWs have rarely appealed to me beyond an aesthetic appreciation -- having once stepped foot inside BMW of San Francisco, the attitude of several salesmen/managers/greeters as I wandered around (wearing my 'Sunday best') was nearly enough to make me swear off the brand forever. One sales guy twice my size even tried to shoulder-check me as I walked down a wide corridor. Not one to hold a grudge (against a brand at least), from the photos and specs, the 1-Series is appealing enough that I am willing to go to another dealership in the Bay Area, luckily there are many. If not the 1, the 3 series is also appealing. I am a bit wary of some of the frequency-of-repair stories I've heard of though -- I tend to keep things around until they fall apart. |
