How many of you are doing this? Apparently it can be done on an iOS device and make you some money, especially if the currency you are mining goes up in value which is a pretty good bet most of the time. This video was posted on everythingapplepro what do you think? The app doesn't appear to be in the App Store so you have to trust a certain site but this guy swears by it and is pretty well known on YouTube.

i attribute this invisible money boom to people wanting to get something for nothing. a few will make money and get out. lots will make money, then shit the bed. i'm watching, but i don't want anything to do with it.

Don't bother: you can't use your phone to beat these days' "industrial" miners with their (literally) factories of equipment any successfully.

Do bother they can use your device for their mining without your permission or (even! ) revenue share by as simple as having you open a web page (not to mention that "old" but most reliable way to misuse your device of badware installation). The news page I read about that possibility on did appear to load my computer just as much as to let me notice they weren't joking, perhaps.

So I noticed that the cryto currency appeared to stop trading between 8:48 and 11pm. Is this true every day? Or is this just on coinbase? It was true for all currencies. Why would that be since mining should be happening 24-7 as well as trades taking place all over the world.

Coinbase shut down. I get text notifications when issues like that come up and are resolved. Ripple heading north. Lets keep the momentum.

Script beat the industrial miners not too long ago. The same script you're referencing in your second paragraph. I'm not mining, but I am definitely making a grip on trading.

I didn't mean it hadn't, the question appeared to be if it made sense to mine on one's personal devices. In either case it's like pointless now (according to the news).

A script's success still depends on how many computers and how long it runs (they try to hide secondary browser windows behind others to keep it running) on them. And it's not the same script/site that benefits everyone - "to each their own". It's constant with "farmers". But anyway that scripting-based mining is (computing resources, energy...) theft!

Mining can still be profitable, but with dedicated mining rigs (ASICs or GPU mining) definitely not with your iPhone or Android device.
