Any British whiskey fans who want a discount on Laphroaig?
I ended up with a bunch of discount coupons for Laphroaig, and turns out they expire at end of year. Anybody over in England (or perhaps anyplace in the EU) want to try cashing these in for something? I'll work on good faith - if you are game to use them for an order, I'll send you the codes, and split the savings with you. I have 8 of the 20euro, one 5euro, and one 10euro. I think you need to use them for an online order, but if you are on Islay you could probably visit their store. One voucher per order, and the 20's require an 80 euro purchase (20/40euro purchase for the 5/10 coupons). Love the Scotch, but really HATE their new take on promotionals (yeah, they won't ship to the US, but they give me coupons); it was either cash in for these, or a bunch of stupid pens, lanyards, and t-shirts that would have cost me >30euros for shipping. PM me if you are interested, hate to see these go to waste. Bonus prize if you can guess how many bottles of Laph it takes to earn 175 euros of coupon Here is a link to their order page, but this link may be specific to USA https://www.laphroaig.com/en/shop-global |

It's a dry-Christmas for me this year. COVID caught me with a breakthrough case Monday. Any Christmas "spirits", of Christmas present, received will have to wait another week to be opened.

Had a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA today. Good lord. Gotta be careful with those.

Picked up 2 of these. I really enjoy the Angel's Envy Rye and Bourbon, looking forward to my glass tonight. The wood box is nicely made, guessing it bodes well for the content.

I was gifted a bottle of Redemption Wheated Bourbon. Quite good. An Indiana bourbon.

eagle rare used to be the best value in bourbon. at least in the DC region, IF you can find it you'll likely pay a significant premium. it was my go-to daily drinker for years, until mark-ups over $70!

The other day I had a glass of Jefferson's Very Old Very Small Batch and I must say it was quite good. My next one to purchase.

So as you all know by now, my preference for spirits without any questions, is ultra premium sipping Rums. Followed by Cognac.
Here in Texas, Bourbon and Whiskey are the most popular. I'd say Tequila is certainly up there as well. I keep a variety in my bar at all times with over 80 bottles on hand. I definitely keep some tried and true Bourbons and Scotch for my friends who only drink those. But recently, I've been exploring and tasting many more myself just to expand my own taste buds. My criteria for ANY thing I drink is it MUST be smooth if not ultra smooth. I also prefer sweet. Not sugary but a honey, or fruit note is preferred. Some appreciate the burn, heat, pepper, etc that Bourbon naturally brings. Even the ones I have : Eagle Rare 10, Woodford Reserve, Basil Hayden, Maker's Mark and several different Crown Royal. Are all considered great options. Then I have Glenfiddich, Glen Moray, Dewars, The Glenlevit. I can definitely say without question that Scotch is generally smoother than Bourbon/Whiskey. But, then there's the smokiness that I don't care for with Scotch. All that being said, this very helpful young man at my local Specs who knows my tastes and has very similar tastes to mine, recommended a Bourbon that I've never heard of. Based on his recommendation alone, I bought 2 bottles of this. I am very happy to report it is excellent! At $40 I consider it a great value. Let me know if you try it, what you think?

Sam Adams Wicked Hazy IPA. First real beer in about a month. Figured I needed to remind my liver what to do with alcohol.
