I'm thinking of making my crawlspace a subterranean safe room of sorts. Could double as dungeon for unsuspecting individuals that enter my house however. Lockable trap door from inside however so wouldn't work very well.

Don't be an amateur. You need a sub-dungeon that has a lockable door that opens into the regular dungeon.

I agree, mini gun is best for emplacements requiring wide fields of fire, like your front yard. Also they require a shit ton of ammo that would fill your dungeon pretty quick
