The SSE is actually going as I'm no longer Road Racing and it's too nice to simply roll around a training loop on so I use my Steel bike for that now. It's like night and day when I get back on a carbon bike!!! skru-fase - 380 is on my TT bike in the position. Closer to 400 on the road bike. Numbers count for nothing unless you can use it though. |

My wife's 1h FTP is 190 (with hub power meter, probably 200 at the crank) and she can knock out a 40k in 58 min. (she's 5'10" and 72k) That's a hell of a lot of additional power requirement to knock off another 10 min in order to reach your 40k PR. Hard work indeed. I find it super interesting how a sport accessible to anyone has such a huge disparity between recreational, Cat 1, Pro 1/2 and World-class riders. For the determined, the sport offers the eternal carrot dangling in front of you. For as badly as i would like to have a 380FTP, you likely just as badly want a 420FTP and the amount of work for me to reach 380 from 280 is likely the same or less than it is for you to increase by just 40w. Add in the varied disciplines.... endurance, TT, Criterium, road, climber, sprinter, etc.... that one can hone and it's no wonder cycling is a life long sport. Only took me 42 years to get into it. lol

I just registered for a metric century in Naples, FL. called the Miracle of the Limbs ride for wounded warriors These brave young men are Marines, Navy SEAL's or Army veterans who served in the Middle East fighting ISIS. Most of them have lost a limb or several limbs as a result of their service to our country and have been fitted with artificial limbs and special foot wear or hands which allow them to ride. As a Navy vet I fully support this ride and I know the ride organizer and that 98% of the money raised goes right to these veterans. It is so inspiring to see these heroes ride along with the fortunate riders who did not have to suffer these terrible loss of limbs. They don't want sympathy and they can ride quite well and fast. We start with a color guard ceremony and the National Anthem. NO ONE kneels!!! After the ride we hang out with these guys and enjoy some great food. They feel that this is their way of getting through the horrible experience of war. I am so very proud to participate and ride alongside these real hero's.

Thanks.
There's definitely more to come. It's only the start of the season. I raced a 10mi TT yesterday and pushed 365w for 19:34. Bit of an off day with reaidual fatigue from a very very busy week. Still, 5wkg and the win. Third win in a row. |

Insane. Going back for my MBA destroyed my power, time and packed on a few pounds. When I was competitive and regularly winning or getting on the podium (not at your level), I still had 3.46w/kg which was enough to hang with most. I couldn't imagine being at 5+
