This is kinda a weird thread...one would think that "ask" would mean women, not men? Men don't need a gynecologist and many women prefer a female ob gyn. I assume the op is a male.

As a freshman in collage, what should I worry about if I want to get into a U.S. med school? I know I need to focus on GPA and extracurricular activities/volunteer hours. Anything else?
How expensive is malpractice insurance? Before doing clinical rotations in med school, were you interested in a different specialty? |

Have you ever delivered a baby where the mother didnt know she was pregnant until she went into labor ? I've heard several stories of this; hard to believe how someone can be 9 months into it with no clue, but it actually happened to the (large) daughter of a woman my wife works with.

I know one. She was just about to turn 16 when she went into labor. I'd say it was more denial than not knowing though.

The kids are not to blame as much as adults who are supposed to teach them how to keep themselves safe. Now, ask this again in 7 years, when my kid dreams of dating.

If I may add....
It is also stupid friends. If they have stupid friend, they think it is cool to have a kid at middle school or highschool age. "Oh, I got pregnant off of Johnny the football captain! He will get drafted to Alabama/FSU (whatever the F school). Isn't this sooooo romantic? awwwww. Baby shower in 3 month! Check your facebook! heee heeeeeeee" "Yo homeboy! my girlfriend Amber who is head of cheer leader squad is pregnant dude bro!!!!!! I am gonna be a baby's dada! I guess I better quit thinking about going to Alabama/FSU for football scholarship, and work at Tacobell to support the baby's mama and the baby, bro!" School , parents, counseling are factor, but having stupid friends will bypass all the stuff they've learned. Media needs to stop glorifying all these. WHen I was in highschool, one of my friend's friend was 14-15, and got one gal pregnant at the party. I believe they had a shotgun bf/gf and/or marrige. It was 1993. NOw that kid would be 22! wow! |

Yeah, I don't get it. Remember the diapers and the sleepless nights? How about trying to do that all while not driving bimmers and while envying your old friends who still have a future.

Haha, as a sex ed, putting the 15 year old wear them for a day might work.
It is a weird world if 15 year olds want to have babies when I remember being so damn scared of those screaming things well over the age of 20.

I get that 16 yr old girls living at home would be in denial because they dont want to think about the consequences of what is happening, or dont want to confront mom or dad.
There are a surprising number of cases where fully grown, adults, not living with parents, some of whom have already given birth before, who make it all the way to delivery without knowing they were pregnant ! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...surprised.html http://www.people.com/article/woman-...-know-pregnant I've never been pregnant myself obviously, perhaps someone who has been pregnant can explain how it is possible to get that far and not know.
