If you like the Lexus IS there is a new one coming in 2022 with a 472hp V8. The Lexus IS 500 F Sport.

She did not buy the red. But the non-red 3.0t still puts out 400, just doesn't have the fancy brakes.

My basis is simple. More features (remote start factory, heated steering wheel, A/C seats, the proassist package is pretty sweet, etc.) than my current ride, cheaper than my current ride and more horses than my current ride with most likely a cheaper payment.

I owned a G35 a few years ago and enjoyed it; I just had the opportunity to trade it for an 335i E93, was a no brainer.

I've seen this and would be excited about it, but I won't buy a new car. Depreciation around 30-35% within the first year. Hard pass. I'll wait a year or two or 4 save half the money. My only issue with the IS500 is the interior. I love my IS350 as far as reliability goes, but the infotainment system Lexus uses is not ideal. Was my only complaint about my IS350 gen2 that I had. Also am a bit of an OCD guy; none of the lines of the interior are symmetrical. This makes me want to pass on the IS500. Also don't need a back seat any longer. This thinking alone makes me pass on the IS500 and consider an RCF (same motor as the IS500 minus the back seat), plus these have been out for a few years, I can get a better deal on used than buying an IS500.

Oh I see, I haven't been paying attention to the latest specs of the Q50. Didn't realize the 3.0 went up to 400 ponies. Cool. I had thought the Red was the only one, stupid me.

They are definitely nice looking cars to be sure. I used to have a G37S but I hated the tranny on that thing. Mostly everything else was "okay". Never really felt thrilling to drive like some other cars I've owned.

Kind of a side note but I was looking at Infiniti's website regarding the Red and couldn't help notice some disinformation pertaining to the 2021 M340i, lol. Not sure where the heck they're getting their data but that is definitely not correct regarding the HP. Lol.

EDIT: I just noticed it says 2021 340i. There is no 340i model now as far as I know. I had thought it was the M340i. Infiniti is cherry picking older models, lol.

https://www.infinitiusa.com/vehicles...0/compare.html

I've never owned a Lexus though I was once interested in the IS350 when they first came out with that newer design. It's been many years now and the thing that troubled me is they haven't really changed anything over all these years, especially the engine. When I took one for a test drive (IS350 F-sport) I just wasn't into it much. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a nice car in general but it just didn't have that certain vibe that I was looking for. I know a lot of people are really intrigued by the IS500 because of the NA V8 in it. That's another conversation however. Let's just say that I'm satisfied with 6-cylinders that have a nice punch. I've had V8s in the past, naturally aspirated ones at that, and I don't honestly miss it that much. I mean it's crazy what they can do with 4 bangers these days. I came super close to buying the new AMG CLA45 which has the same amount of HP as the M340i which is nuts. Of course the sound is different, lol.

Anyway, thanks for explaining.

I liked the G35 as well. One of the nicest sounding stock exhausts I think. The newer Infinitis don't really move me.

I agree about buying used but thought I'd mention it since you wanted more hp and already had an "IS" thought you might be soft on them. Yeah, if you're in no hurry, wait, and get a used RCF since you don't need or want a back seat.

Reason: we sat down, did a budget. After everything I had enough "free money" to blow on anything. $600/mo sounds pretty okay to me to blow on stuff, i don't buy random stuff, i don't eat out daily. She said that wasn't enough to reach "our" financial goals.

I'm still debating it, turns out the car is still up for sale. Come Friday I'm going to revisit this. My financial goals were to own a BMW once I am full-time employed. Idk what hers are exactly, but I should probably clarify that before signing anything.

Young Pickle - I too was sort of in your situation. Was dating my wife (gf at time obviously), but I sort of went about it a little different. I went out and leased my 335 (back in 2008) and didn't tell her till I signed the papers. Fait Accompli.

Then I proposed after. At that point she could have done something, but I did the lease before I proposed. You are still in my situation above - go for it!

My wife was really good about it though - she was in residency, not making much, but I was rocking a 99 Maxima that I traded in for $500 to the BMW dealer lol so she knew I really wanted a new car and was supportive.

Generally yes, as long as you are paying on time. It's good(for your credit score/report) to have different types of credit( auto loans, credit cards, etc.) to show you can handle diff type of credit and are trustworthy.

She wanted something newer. The G's were replaced by the Q's a few years ago.

I don't trust cats. And I don't trust anyone who trusts cats. Mainly because that means that not only are they probably plotting my death, they also actually have the physical ability to carry it out too.
