I think it’s a shame. She didn’t mean to do it and I don’t think it was negligent. It was adrenaline fueled in the moment and a fucked up mistake. Didn’t I hear that based on his actions of trying to drive away, police would have been justified in shooting for fear of their lives by being run over or dragged?

It’s really easy to second guess because you held the gun and the taser and felt the weight difference with plenty of time to ponder.

Should he be dead, no. But had he not fled, he’d be alive.

I haven’t followed since the verdict. Did they sentence yet and how long will she get?

I agree that it was accidental. I, too, don't think it was negligent, and I feel it was more of an adrenaline fueled mistake. In some states his actions would've made deadly force an option. On my department, his actions in that moment wouldn't have justified deadly force (…although I think that policy is totally off base).

As for her sentencing, I'm not sure if they've rendered a verdict on that yet.

I was born and raised in the Bay Area and remember when they got ride of those plates because they were supposedly too ugly.

Of course now you get to pay a premium for them. Although I will grant that the new ones are better looking than the original ones.

Are you referring to the blue plates or the black & yellow plates?

@bucketfoot, I don't think I particularly liked them in the 60s, but now these black and gold plates have a nice vintage look to them. They also stand out in a crowd, give you a different look. I don't mind the premium, to me they're worth it.

Honestly I always preferred the black & yellow. Of course that may just be because that is what all my California cars had

Well they definitely looked better on my first car (red 67 Camaro) than the blue & yellow ones would have!

I guess technically I did have the blue & yellow plates on one car. But that was my dad's pickup that I got when I was going to school in Arizona and took with me when I moved to Colorado. In fact I'm almost certain that I still have the plates from it sitting in my rolling toolbox in the garage

My first car was a '68 Bug in 1973. I was 18. Believe the plate was blue with the gold/yellow then.

That makes me think that my memory may be lacking.

I know for sure that at that time the plates stayed with the car when sold and both my 67 Camaro (bought in 77) and 59 Baja Bug (bought in 78) had the black plates. But since I think the blue ones came out in 69 or 70 that means that my 72 Mach I definitely had to have the blue ones.

You had some nice cars. I was poor as a kid and had to save up for my bug. Don't remember how much it cost but I know I paid cash for it.

I started working in junior high and all through high school so that I could save the money to buy my own cars and paid cash for all of them as well (my plans back then were to be an auto mechanic, which I was for awhile).

It certainly helped that it was a time when you could get some great cars for bargain prices.

The other good thing was that my parents made me pay for my own insurance as well. This kept me from doing much stupider things than what I was already doing!

I was on my own when I was 18. My mom died when I was 17 and my dad was not a real father to us. Had my own apartment then (with my girlfriend) and had bills to pay, plus saving for a car.
