Really? 90 days is DEFCON 1 for car dealers.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are piling up on car lots across the country as the green revolution hits a speed bump, data show.
Nov 14,2023
EV inventories have increased by 506% from a year ago, with EVs sitting on lots for longer, according to CarGurus’ October report, released this month. EVs sit on the market an average 82 days versus 64 days for gas-powered vehicles, it said. In response to slowing demand, automakers like Ford and GM are cutting production.

EVs are still too expensive for most people, even with government incentives, surveys say.

For the M 3 I have 5727 cars sold in the US per month which was 63000 cars total 1-23 to end of 11-23. So there are 1995 M 3 cars available. That doesn’t sound like a lot. I may be missing something.

Edit: I need a better data source. Looks like Tesla sells way more Model 3s in the US so the available inventory looks tiny.

Edit 2: per this https://www.autoweek.com/news/a45460...-after-tesla/# around 162K Model 3s over the first three quarters. So 18K cars a month. 1995 cars on hand seems pretty good.

Great idea, Rent a EV before you buy. The road noise is insane, (EV Tires)? A trip to the gas station is looking pretty good to me.

The Model S Plaid is getting around 61-70 db at 75 mph.

https://teslanorth.com/2021/07/25/te...l-meter-video/

At 70 mph it was running 65-68 db.

Readings per C&D for my M5 latest gen at 70 mph were 66-74 (latter is at WOT).

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...5-test-review/

Those seems fairly comparable.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S T2 tires have a foam liner in them. I never am bothered with tire drone.

I still thinks the road noise is insane on the video. When I had my X3 the road noise sucked too and it was related to the stupid truck tires they used back then. Hated that SUV.

I have enjoyed the overall quietness of my specific Tesla. I have no experience in any other makes or models of EVs.

More encouraging news from the green church overlords. Because, you know, everything they try and do is such a colossal success!

“California takes great pride in our ambitious status as the leading edge of high-speed rail in America,” Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Tuesday on X, previously Twitter. “With $3 billion in new federal funding, we take an important leap closer to making high-speed rail a reality in California.”

Over a decade. A decade and not a foot of rail...

Imagine what a deep dive audit of that project would uncover.

California is forging the way forward for the future!
Just pay no attention to the 68B deficit.

I wouldn’t call high speed rail a green church plan. Rail is reasonable and used all over the planet. This Cali project will be a fiasco because of so many unfavorable exigencies and will likely never come to fruition.

But I wouldn’t call rail something only enviro loonies want.

Absolutely. Rail has been a European model of success for ions.
Thing is, both Nance and Gavski ARE green church leadership and that project has been touted as a pollution killer. Too bad they and their friends are depositing the billions. Mention Federal audit and they're in Brazil the next morning.

Mucho pro rail myself. Texas is stuck with a big project but it's more of a "we're not selling our ranches" problem along desired line location(s).

Think you guys responded to a bot. Low post count, joined literally this month, and responding to the first post of over 240+ pages sound like a bot

I don't understand why so many people that have no experience with an EV have such harsh options about EVs.

I sold my 2018 BMW x5 s35i for a 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance edition. I am not a tree hugger. I don't imagine I am saving the plant with my one EV. I changed because I got tired of buying premium gas, I got tired of doing all the maintenance, oil and spark plug changes. I loved that X5. It was a great vehicle and I had a Bootmod3 tune on it. That thing was fast.

My Tesla is even faster with no maintenance. I'm not here to argue or tell you that you need to get rid of your ICE vehicle. I get it EVs don't work for everyone, but thsi Model Y works for me. I have certain routine trips I take. I used to have to stop for gas $40-$60. Now I stop to charge $4-$6. I'm not saying I am saving a ton of money on my EV. I think the cost of the EV made up for the difference. $15k more than my X5. But perhaps I get that money and time back by not having to change the oil, spark plugs or trans fluid. IDK.

I just know I like my Tesla Model Y. Charging does not take as long as people talk about. I have never spent more than 15 mins charging on the road. The goal is to charge enough to get to the next charger not to 100%. I have grown to enjoy the 15 mins of relaxing in the car or getting a snack or using the bathroom on that stop. Once I stopped in Atlanta, GA to charge. I decided to kill the charge time with a meal. By the time I got inside the restaurant next door. The car was done charging. I had enough juice to make it home.

My EV works for me and that is all I care about. The instant power is there when I want it. I'm not sure how long I will keep it. On average I keep a car 6-8 yrs. I only kept the X5 2 yrs.
