The harebell bedroom had a makeover cuz I failed. I have extra kids if someone wants to help me out. Be warned, they're all horrible.

I get the best compliments after I spent a month going through cloths to find violet roses for the bedside curtains, and an other fighting to get my own furniture from my mom's house to give to a 10 year old.

Did you need a ladder for the flagpole, or were you able to climb up there and paint it? How do you paint the top of a flagpole?

I've been shopping for a house for a year now again, nothing felt right. I made a bid in one and it got accepted but I just couldn't find the motivation for it. It was too new, it had straight corners, it had a roof that wasn't leaking. Obviously it wasn't for me, I truly tried but I just couldn't buy it.

A few months ago my aunt told me she wants to sell my great aunts home. It has busted windows, no heating, the house has to be basically redone from top to bottom and my husband hates it, my kids try to grow up faster so they can have me sent to a mental institution, my dog refuses to go near the place...

Anyway, I got some bids from excavator contractors and after reviewing them I decided those fuckers are highway robbers and now I'm stuck digging by hand 8 ft under ground by hand for about 250ft. While doing that, I managed to get a tree crash my pit while I was winching a rock out of my ditch, I may have fucked up everything else imaginable too and I have decided we won't be discussing that particular part of this project ever.

I wouldn't bring digging up at all but this weekend our lovely and eager family was doing the new sewer line. I had so much fun making this 2 meters long ditch for the new line with a few broken ribs and mild bruises to my ego I lost my tape measurer.

I was a bit pissed with myself, so I decided to drop a kid in the ditch and take a photo so I could get a measurement when I'd find the stupid tool.

You know it's bad when you need to know how far you still have to go, and you pick a kid for the job that'll be just tall enough to make you feel better about your progress.

Anyway...

My current obsession is stoves. I had 3 fire places, but I currently am building two new ones because "omg those are too pretty be destroyed. I must save them!"

My husband has to be the most tortured man on earth. He has the whole July off so he can put his epic skills in masonry to use, since that's the one thing I suck at. No jury will convict him if he murders me one day.

Wood stoves are the best. You haven't lived until you crank one up, open the damper, and get the stovepipe glowing red. But best to try this with somebody else's stove, kind of like learning to drive stick.

I have my trusted (and untested) winch, 250 kilos of some shit I need to resurface the chimneys with, all sorts of tools needed and worthless all hauled up to the roofs. Today the final push of this construction starts. Today marks the end of my herding. Today finally I will get this project on track.

Few tiny issues have emerged. I don't mind being on roofs, if I built them. I fucking hate hights on roofs in general. I cant believe i have to do this shit, why the fuck cant I just hire someone for this bs.

Also, it's apparently my birthday. It's 9 am, i have time sensitive shit to do for at least 10-14 hours now, and my stupid friends just showed up with beer and lawn chairs. They're apparently going to sit in the garden shoot shit and get drunk while i go die on my roof. Fuck me all.

Here in 'Murica, this combo (roofing work + beer + friends/audience) is like a signal from God that you need to perform some crazy death-defying stunt. I'd vote for something that involves spraying lit gasoline, or perhaps a you can work in a pipe bomb somehow. At least try using the garden hose to get somebody to 'beer-bong' a gallon or so from up on the roof - and we need pictures, don't forget.

Turns out my aunt has adopted the family curse and she has an infection in her tummy, her infection levels are shooting up and she's horrible with meds so I took her to the hospital, got her to see a doctor and now I'm shoveling pills in her mouth. I'm drinking non alcoholic beer and sitting in my porch while those so called friends of mine are being hauled home by their wives. My aunt is notorious for getting a bad reaction from anything so two simultaneous antibiotic courses 3 times a day will mean a ten day delay in my renovation projects.

This final push is going as well as all my best plans ever have.

As for your roof plans......I have never been one afraid of heights. I used to do Radar Level Gauge installations on huge tank farms out in the middle of no-where....being so far up in the air it was crazy. Never gave it a second thought.

But as I have got older...for some reason it has begun to catch up with me. Maybe it's because the pitch of our current roof is so crazy....or the fact of not being "tied-off" when up there awhile back doing some inspecting.

Either way...be safe!

It's funny what old age does to you! My first job, and I earned a Guns and Rose's tape for doing it, was to strip my family home from the roof tiles and throw them down. Never bothered me, I was 8. I've done every roof, every damn repair, gutters, paintings, you name it, I've done it. Ive climber trees, rocks, I have even hauled my dog from a tree after he went after a cat while firemen laughed at me.

I was used to it. Now I'm a big old wuss who let's the hubby do inspections. He's always had the same life insurance, so it's not even that I'm after that, it's just harder to make myself go up there.

He thinks this is funny. He endured a roof repair when I climbed up on our old house 35 weeks pregnant and refused to let him do it.

Oh well, gimme a day or two.
