We opened a couple of bottles last weekend: 2013 Tignanello and 2012 Valdicava Brunello for my brother in law’s birthday. I preferred the Tignanello, while my wife preferred the Brunello. Everyone else was just happy we brought some wine to the restaurant.

I use frequently and find it will hold bottle for about 2 - 3 weeks if it is no more than half full. After it does lose a bit but still quite drinkable.
I prefer aged Cabernet/Bordeaux, Burgundy and most Italian varietals. I have well over 75 cases of wine. Some stored in locker, others in wine fridges. The rest in several interior closets. |

They are made from Nebbiolo which usually doesn’t make for heavy wines. Usually medium bodied with good acidity to cut through the rich dishes.( a lot of French/Swiss influence.

I tried the Honig because of this thread. Didn’t like it. Have to try the Nickel & Nickel but hate experimenting on a $100 bottle.

Opened a bottle of 2017 Lewis Cellars cabernet. I was pleasantly surprised. There was one vintage (can’t remember which) that was an absolute fruit bomb but this was much more balanced.

Unfortunately our’s is cracking near the sink and needs to be replaced, which is leading to a discussion about remodeling the kitchen. Started as small crack now a mess after 2 attempted repairs. Not loving granite much.
