I just hope the M245i will be available with a manual transmission.

Well, I wouldn't expect any of this as long as the current FAAR platform is used, as it has been developed and engineered for a max power output of ~300hp.

This is probably one reason why the F40/F44 lifecycle could be shortened as ynguldyn wrote in his November 2019 update. Maybe BMW made a mistake here by making the FAAR platform this cost-efficient. Thinking about AMG or the new Golf R with an expected 333hp

So accordingly to my local (eu/Sweden) dealer. The M2, all versions, will not being produced after 2020/09? Not 2021/06 as stated in this thread. Can anyone verify this?

What's the purpose if that given the fact that the 530e is already 4-cilinder?

What are the specs of the 520e then?
In the UK they have just announced the G20/G21 318i will use a lower powered version of the B48 (154hp) rather than the B38.
It could be possible this is what we will see in the 520e as the electric motor would boost the power to circa 200

I'm pretty skeptical of some line-in-the-sand cutoff at ~300hp. If the market calls for a performance PHEV model making a little more than 300hp, I'm sure there's a reasonable way to achieve that with the current generation vehicles.

Based on what I've read, the impetus for the new platform is lower costs and better packaging for electric models.

I'd guess the answer is "yes". In other words, both will be available. As long as they are still making RWD M*40i 3 Series and 4 Series models (and they are), I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for the 2 Series Coupe. Now, whether the RWD model is available in all regions is a separate question. For example, the RWD M340i sedan isn't available in many countries, and I'd guess the same will hold for the upcoming RWD M440i coupe and convertible.

Once the F2x and F3x end, the B58 + 6MT is almost surely into the history books.

S58 + 6MT is what's left. Once that's gone, it's all done.

I had the current generation M235 (2014), loved it. Replaced it with M340 xdrive which is amazing. New generation M235/240 with same engine will be a beast

Any one around Cambridge MA see what looked like a fully camo'd / red 3 series cruising around today?

I couldn't grab a very good pic, but I have no idea why they would bother with Camo on a 3 series now after it just came out.

B58/S58 and the future G87 M2/M2C (2023): hm, N55/S55 of F87 M2/M2C déjà-vu likelihood or straightaway a detuned S58 of the G80 M3 / G82 M4 ?

I strongly suspect they’ll use the S58 in the G87 from the start because it allows them to go to a single I6 + 6MT configuration that covers everything. In fact, the business case for keeping the manual M cars for a (presumably) final generation was likely built around sharing the same engine/transmission across the three (M2/M3/M4) vehicle programs.

Is there a chance of an X3 20e, similar to the 320e, coming up as well? There is no corresponding X3 18i (I assume the 318i is the basis for the 320e), but I am not sure that would be a requirement, as it seems to mainly be a detuned 20i.

Makes me wonder if the Futura 2000 M2 Competition was the special M2 version.
