Fun fact, here is a physics lesson. You can strap on as many ///M Badges to that 535i, it wont be an ///M and it will still be SLOW.

Look at the times. That big, fat, top heavy, nose heavy, monstrosity that is the X6M, is more of an ///M than that 535i.

That's application of physics for yah.

Ashamed to admit I had this on my 328i once upon a time
I was new to BMW at the time and copied other BMWs that I saw at the time thinking it was a legit "M performance" mod (of course I bought some cheap ebay thing). I think I grew out of it when I was waiting to collect my vehicle at the dealership after service and the SA asked me "is your car the one with the M grille"? I look back and it was cringe. Will try and find a photo.

Don't worry, they won't respond to real facts or any real data, other than to spurt their own version of "facts" or demand that we accept the physics. Presentation of real data and facts apparently means that we are upset and creating scenarios. Obviously has a different super computer to the rest of us

Seems they are off digging for "physics" which apparently prove that the X6M is not a real M, or searching for the latest fake M badging or M sport additions that would make the 540i more M than the X6M. If you believe it, it must be real!

Agreed. Here I found a light weight small convertible in the wild. The MX5.

Looks like it gained some weight.

Ok ok.

Here is one of my vehicles when I was a much younger lad. It was an Audi TT 2.0 with S-line package which I thought was the fastest car at the time. What you are seeing is an eBay “s line” grille badge with the red paint all faded out. I remember thinking that the S and RS badges on the grill looked so cool that I just had to copy it. Turns out I was a serial fake badger in my previous life.

I do appreciate that they fully committed to anodizing their wheels in "brake dust". Though a semi-common color, it's rarely executed anywhere near this well.

Why do they never, ever, correctly align the badge?

FWIW, should the M550i also be on that list? Love that car!
The simple truth is BMW should only put an M badge on a true M car.

While the M550i is a great car, it is no M5. Not even close. Same for the M340 vs M3. I have been on the track in both and there is no comparison.

The “simple truth” is BMW have been putting m badges on ‘non true’ M cars for many, many years. The E28 m535i being one of my favourites

I’ll give you the M1. He should have flipped it to say what it is which is a 1M.

As for the turbo script…It belongs on a VW? Here’s a pic straight from BMW press group. The turbo script is 100% classic BMW.

You’re right, the VW script looks closer to the Porsche version and it has a capital T.

Yet both chassis (5er and 3er) are inherently superior to the X6 if driving pleasure and performance are the targets.

Some things cannot be engineered out.

Already stated of course, but lost in a sea of emotion.

You are missing the point of this thread, and not winning any sort of argument here. Perhaps move on?

The argument won itself. It's inherent physics. The rest was light-hearted banter.

Not for everyone. You'll get over it.

Front wing badges and illuminated door-sill badges that came from the factory.

Meanwhile, physics remains physics. Painful for some, I guess.

///M 520d complete with ///M eBay style mirror package.

Physics + chassis made him do it

I think I’ve captured this in the wild previously LOL. Does it still count?

Meanwhile over in Ingolstadt…

Audi Fakery

Not sure what’s worse… private owners upbadging their cars to appear of a higher spec, or a manufacturer pulling a similar ruse direct from the factory. 🤔
