Those wheels look good. I'd assume they'll fit on the Z4.

SupraMKV's mod attended a meeting with Toyota and this is what he can say.

It was a good meeting, not a ton of new information or anything. But as usual, I can't really say much.

Main point of the meeting was more to talk about the community, demographics and general outlook as the Product Planning/PR teams ramp up for launch.

Couple takeaways:
-Don't believe everything you see/read on the internet
-A lot of stuff on the test mules is not finalized
-There are a lot of small design elements that are still being tested
-This car is not a muscle car, nor is it a GTR killer. It will be a sports car that will impress really anyone that drives it, especially compared to cars in its price class.
-The MKIV is constantly on the mind of the designers and engineers, they know the expectations, the market, and most importantly, the hype. Don't think that they're in the dark about any of the details when it comes to the MKIV and it's place in the automotive world.

Didn't get much more than that and sadly no scoops! I am trying to get my ass into one of those new Corollas though...

I will continue to be in contact with the team at Toyota and try to get as much info as I can going forward. :headbang:

Hopefully the Z4 is less bloated and overstyled.

Fender and quarter panel height on the Z4 looks to be the same. To each their own, personally I like the styling of the Supra prototype. On the other side, there are some that think the Z4 looks bland and boring. Different strokes for different folks.

^Just a few months away. Toyota UK twittered early 2019. In interviews Tada san said maybe late 2018.

So roughly five years. I do think that's a little quicker than the GT86 and certainly faster than the NSX. Maybe we'll get an STI before the next Winter Olympics.

^The FT-86 concept debuted at the TMS in October 2009. The production Toyota 86 debuted at the December 2011 TMS.

FT-HS was shown at Detroit in 2007. Production began in 2012.

So I suppose the Supra is right on the five year timeline. Or effectively a whole generation.

^(From what I understand.) While sharing some styling cues the FT-HS was not the same as the 86 project. That concept was suppose to preview a $40k 400hp hybrid Supra successor, but the project was scrapped after the 2008 recession. Instead Toyota flavored a more affordable sports car that we know as the 86.

Back to the 86, the project started even before the blackout Frankenstein test mule. It began with a Legacy-shelled mule, I'm assuming some time in 2008. It's also worth noting that the project came to a 6 month stop, because of Subaru.

Yes, Tada san did say it would take around 5 years to develop the Supra. I don't think this included the two years they spent on just the idea of what kind of car to make with BMW (2012-2014).

Toyota Supra:

The development of the Toyota Supra kicked off in May 2012, when the firm’s chairman called the GT86’s chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, and told him to go to Munich to speak to BMW about a possible joint venture. Two years later, the idea of a Supra was rubber-stamped.

Looks like an updated E86 to me. If the actual car is that devoid of Toyota-esque garishness I'll be very pleased, and tempted.
