They are actually polar opposites (which attract, right?)

Niece doesn't do much in the way of exercise, medium length hair, but nothing special. About 5'8", probably carrying at least an extra 30lbs

Wife is a fitness freak, quite the muscular development, but not BIG muscles, just definition. She MIGHT measure in at 5'. She SMOKED me and most of our whole group in the Spartan run we did "together" at Dodger stadium in 2017, and similarly at a local college equivalent.

Oh, and their dog-children . . .

I won't lie, I might be looking for a career change. I'm pretty adept at tearing cars apart and handy with a heat gun. The house is paid off and I've been toying around with the notion of selling it, moving out of state and starting over, now that my kids are grown. But, Florida man......

Just out of curiosity, how busy is your shop?

It absolutely ridiculous. Normally this time of year is the busiest and our work in process shown here would be around $300-350k.
-cant get parts
-cant get skilled workers
-cant get unskilled workers to show up to interviews

Just keep going every day, most people understand

Going to pick up the new truck this weekend that is replacing the Audi. Good riddance to the Audi...that was the epitome of unreliability.

By the way King Rudi - you had asked about reliability, I mentioned earlier the turbos blew (but that was due to a manufacturing issue as far as I'm concerned, so was willing to let that go), but here's another update.

It was about 2 weeks before I was to return the Audi, going down to a buddy's, coasting along the highway at say 130 km/h, go to gently push the gas pedal to speed up just a little and get all sorts of stuttering / hesitation, back off the pedal immediately. Go and put my foot on the pedal again 1 second later, same thing again, so I back off again. At this point, I'm worried its going into limp mode at any given moment and I'm going to be dinged for thousands in repairs because it is out of warranty and going back in two weeks which is a bitter pill to swallow.

Anyways, no check engine light, I try it again after a minute of coasting and it is ok, but I baby it all the way to my buddy's trying to avoid limp mode or a check engine light.

On my way back home, middle of the trip, sure enough, does it again, but this time the check engine light starts flashing and I'm just losing it. Lots of descriptive words about Audi at this moment in time. Fortunately for me though, the check engine light went off after flashing for a little.

So I called the dealer and told him I was returning the car early...the next day in fact, which he was happy about, and it didn't look unusual because I had inquired a week before that what the lease return process was and he asked me to bring it in early.

Anyways, I knew if I drove it down there, it was 100% guaranteed that check engine light was going to come on, and stay on this time. So I got a flatbed to tow it to a business very close by the dealer and drop it there while I followed in a rental car, then, drove the Audi the 0.5kms to the dealer so they didn't see the tow truck.

No check engine light. Great success. Their problem now. I'm idly curious as to what it was, and just how much it will cost them, but there is no way I can ask about it.

Firepit with buddies tonight. Looking forward to that and I'll be making Caipirinha to bring. Tomorrow is gym in the morning, then making a turkey for my Muslim brother celebrating thanksgiving for the second time. His wife has never made a turkey and my recipe is the best so she's going to give it a shot. They are immigrants from Albania. It gets injections and butter/salt covering tomorrow and then marinates for 4 days. Then make mine for the big day. And finish a computer build.

Tomorrow night is date night out at the club to do dancing. Sunday is the ECU tune with power supplied to ensure it isn't lost in the tune. And try to get the vacuum hoses, new intake manifold on (a hose broke so that had to come back off), and oil catch can done. Once that is on, car is ready to go.

My friends are Brazilians and I/they love Caipirihnas but its funny watching this white boy order then at the portugese restaurants!

Dancing at a club sounds sooooo exhausting now that I'm 48, but from 23-35 it was 3 nights a week, every week unless you settled down with someone for a while. Enjoy! I cant even imagine stepping foot in a club now

I am settled down with someone and it's been two months since going to this place but we always have a blast there. Thanks! We're in our 40's too so I feel ya. lol

This is what I want my kids to be doing on the weekend rather than playing on their cell phones and Xbox is. They've been out there for two hours in 35° weather

Did a final(?) mow for the season....down to 2.75". Edge up along the curb/street and some of the landscape beds.

Soil temps are down to the mid to low 40's so I also applied a 33-0-4 at 1lb/1kft as a winterizer.

Finished up w/ the front, exterior doorway by re-caulking around some areas. I had cleaned and re-painted it last weekend so it should be good to go.

I'm deciding whether to do a final mow. I mean, the grass isn't that long. Is there a maximum height it should be?

3 inches, otherwise your grass will flatten under the snow, decompose and you might get a foul smell especially in exposed frozen areas. And it smells like a dirty diaper.

There are different schools of thought on how high/low to cut it. Personally, I'd say 3-ish inches for cool season grass. Ultimately, you don't want it too tall since it'll just get matted and trap excess moisture. That can make it more condusive for various molds/diseases to grow ("snow mold"). Too short and the crowns are less insulated. It'll all become evident towards spring when you find out how much raking out of your yard is needed.

I've never done a winterizer application before so I'm just trying it out. I'm going w/ a urea based Nitrogen instead of my usual organic blend. It 'seems to be' what gets used for this. Since it is urea-based, it is cheap. The added potassium is just bonus.

In the past, I've tried applying a fungicide before the grass goes dormant but wasn't sure if I noticed any effect. I'm going w/o it this time due to cost and just to see what happens. I tend to get undiluted powder and granules in a larger size vs the big box store stuff which helps out cost-wise but it still adds up fast for a 32-33k sq ft yard. I alternate between Azoxystrobin and Propiconazole.
