If you're looking for vampire comedy, you have to include this one:

I'm not a fan of heights, so this documentary on Netflix was particularly nuts for me! I don't see how in the hell this couple pulled off what they did for many reasons. Worth the watch! Don't let "...A Love Story" part of the title throw you off.

Saw it a couple of days ago. Seems to me they've taken a page from Kevin Costner's How to Stretch 90 Minutes of Story Into a 3-Hour Movie book. Waaaaaaay to much time spent on fight scenes. They also seem to have tried extra hard to check every woke box, and more. Was it entertaining? Enough. Suspenseful? Not really. Is it a big screen move? Yes.

You have to admit, it’s nowhere near as good as Top Gun 2.

Actually, I thought the whole premise of TG2 was quite stupid and reeked of the first Star Wars movie.

Hmm, interesting perspective! I can see that, but for me it was the first manly actiok movie in a while. Before that it was all super feminine garbage content.

Top Gun 2 Maverick's main mission reminds me a little of the 1964 633 Squadron film I saw recently, a nearly impossible RAF mission bombing a cliff face in Norway so it falls onto a nazi rocket fuel factory.

If you've seen one Jason Statham film, you've seen them all. I watched The Working Man last night and it followed the same storyline as The Beekeeper. However, it did vary from the Mechanic films that he did twenty years ago, same film different vehicle.

Just watched Predator: Killer of Killers. Loved it, animation took a bit to get used to as it seemed choppy but it all came together with story. Looking forward to Badlands after enjoying Prey.

Love Statham the way I love BK Whoppers. I know they’re not nutricious and too many would make me ill, but once in a while just hits the spot. 😁

The Minister and I recently watched two different documentaries about the Titan submersible.

1. "Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster" on Netflix
2. "Implosion: The Titan Sub Disaster" on Max (HBO).

Both were very interesting and showed slightly different viewpoints from some of the primary actors, evidence, etc.

I can't say that I "enjoyed" it, seeing as how it's a documentary about the power of hubris and how thinking you're the smartest guy in the room led to the deaths of said "smartest guy" and four other people, but it was very, very interesting.

The Minister isn't usually into this sort of thing, but she was pretty much fascinated as well. Watching both documentaries within a day or two gave a fuller picture of what happened-- you got to see things highlighted from different angles.

Pilots tend to not really consider "risk mitigation"-- it's just ingrained as something you *constantly* do as part of the normal way of doing things It's built into EVERY training program on the planet from Day One Lecture One. It's so much a part of how you train and fly that you just sort of do it automatically without really thinking about it as "risk mitigation"-- I guess it's comparable to an F1 driver just "knowing" the perfect entry and exit of an apex; it's just something that they've been inculcated to "just do" as part of their training. There were SO MANY red flags regarding the submersible, the operation and the guy running the show that I'd think pretty much ANY trained professional would run screaming in terror away from the sub if offered a free ride.

Just the sub itself looked like a kludge'd together Home Depot project-- no protection on wiring, no strain gauges, regular fittings exposed to salt water, bolts not remotely the correct tensile strength, unproven (for a reason) carbon fiber-- and multiple "dive abort" problems that were met with a "meh" instead of a "We almost died- let's go back to the drawing board on this one". If it was me being offered a ride down to the Titanic on this submersible (AT SIX **THOUSAND** PSI), I can't for a freaking *millisecond* think that I'd go "yeah, that'll "probably" not kill us and it's "probably" safe-- let's go!".

Anyhow, both are very much worth a watch.

Fair warning though: You may end up throwing pillows at the tv going "What a F***ing TOOL!!!" when you watch problem after problem get whitewashed and covered up-- the hubris and arrogance displayed is pretty astonishing.

I wish I had the patience to watch a film about this submersible disaster like you, but with the news of this at the time the last thing I thought was that they would make a crassy film about it.

Grinding the carbon fibre bulges off - like dozens of them.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that carbon fibre is strong, so long as you know, the fibres remain intact.
The ego and lack of adherence to engineering integrity is mind boggling.

The hubris and arrogance involved are a total parallel to the confidence people had in the titanic. Ironic.

I can't stop re-watching Dune part 1 and 2. The videography is insane, with so many scenes that just stay with me long after I've finished watching.

The universe that Frank Herbert created is amazing in the sense that's its so alien but still so familiar.

Tbh, I don't even recall the premise but the aspect of Maverick and Goose's son was predictable. On the Star Wars-esque aspect, I agree. I love planes/aviation but aside from some F/A-18 action, the movie was forgetable. Then again, I think the first film is overrated as well (and don't think Breaking Bad and The Wire are as good as people make them out to be. ).

Saw 28 Years Later. Different than I expected and I wasn't anticipating a 2nd film for it. Not sure if I like that they filmed the 2nd part while they filmed the 1st part or am pissed that they didn't just make a single, longer movie out of it.

This was better than I expected. As I watched it, it felt like an over the top 80s and early 90s Action Flick. Then, low and behold, one of the executive producers is Sylvester Stallone.
