Yes, yes, and yes.

Here's why I drive a 3-Series right now.

1. My current situation. I'm single, splitting my time living in 2 completely different environments, driving high miles per year. Could I being driving a new S-Class right now? Yes. Would I? No. Life has taught me to think practically. A S-Class is a superb car...but do I really need an S-Class right now? No.

2. I didn't get it to be different, or stand out from the crowd, in fact that exact opposite. I got it because I needed a car that would help me grow my business ventures, and still keep me entertained. Yes, people well below my income level drive my exact car, and in some cases better cars. Good for them. I appreciate a nice things, a 335 is a nice thing.

3. Just because someone has money, doesn't necessarily mean he/she should spend said money without thinking things through. Money comes and goes. It's good to place value on items. Buying an expensive car to put miles on is throwing away perfectly good money. Yes, I like my 335. I would never pay the sticker price for my car. I could buy a pair of Tod's loafers and wear them everyday...but spending more than $150 on shoes is pointless in my mind. Hence, I wear $100 Porsche Design loafers I got on sale.

Also, a calling a luxury item entry level is an oxymoron in my mind.

that's all great but I don't believe you bro. I think you're in over your head trying to project a version of yourself on these forums that you're not. People as financially successful as you claim to be aren't so forthright about it on car forums. They're on here, but they stay low key.

Hey, whatever makes you happy.

You asked a question, I happily provided an answer.

I'm happy with what I've done so far. That's all that really counts for me.

I loved my 335... It was a 2007 that was paid off in 2009. I drove it until October 2015.

I didn't replace it because I still enjoyed driving it every day and it suited my purposes perfectly. I was also having my first kids and buying a home and all sorts of other good stuff so I completely understand this post.

Just because something is older/cheaper/not as flashy doesn't mean that cost-be-damned it isn't still one of the best tools for the job.

Truth be told I may still be driving that car today if it weren't for wanting to escape from my kids (whom I love dearly) for a week and do a Euro delivery trip with my wife through the swiss and austrian alps which is ultimately what convinced me to pull the trigger and buy the M.

I think....and this is no knock on him-

His family is wealthy. The cars are obviously his parents or someone's. I respect that he doesn't want to leach off them completely and at least live grounded.

I'm trying not to stereotype him but some of my middle eastern friends are extremely affluent, and drive lower end bimmers/MB. Their folks however- how rolls royces/lambos/ferraris etc

Just my .02
