That’s great! Congratulations! I think you’ve been married the longest here in OT; at least as far as who has reported here in this thread so far.

Hope your wife is doing okay. Best wishes to both of you.

Well, I’m single, never married, but y’all’s anniversary posts made me think of the first two photos here. I took the recreation photo. Then their wedding day and their last anniversary together. They were married for 60 years. Mother passed away in 2020 from Parkinson’s. She was fairly ill on their last anniversary. The last photo is just for fun and because mother was completely healthy. It’s from a trip to visit me. They are on the Michigan Avenue Bridge over the Chicago River. Anyone recognize the building in the background right behind them?

You know you're old if you tried to play one of these cereal box records on your phonograph. And if you did, you also know it wobbled and skipped like crap!

The northern portal of the bridge lies at the foot of the Magnificent Mile, between the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower. Its southern portal is at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive, overlooked by the London Guarantee Building and 333 North Michigan.

You are correct! The building directly behind in the photo is a little further south. It’s green with gold accents. I’m a little surprised no one has identified it yet.

You you're old if

You bought some dry ice as a kid. At least I did.

I was in junior high school when 3 of my friends and I decided to ride our bicycles about 15 miles to the county park and camp over night. Our parents gave us the green light. The day before, I rode my bike about 3 miles to the local ice house where I bought a chunk of dry ice. I think I paid 25 cents for it. The fellow who waited on me wrapped the chunk (about 4 x 6 inches) in some paper, then warned me not to touch it. So I didn't.

We packed up our stuff and off we went. When we arrived at out camp site at the county park I had a very, very frozen ice cream bar and hamburger. We slept under the stars and had a great time. We did manage to leave a coffee can of boiling of unmentionable brew in the fire pit as we left. Surprisingly, the park ranger didn't come after us.

Try that today.

We used to get some older friends to buy us beer and then we'd pack it up with ice in backpacks and ride our bikes to the nearest state park. Our first Booze Cruises. Getting to the park was easy. Getting home after drinking...not so much.

Ah yes, the older friends.

A long-time friend of mine and I moved into a college area apartment complex about one year after graduating from high school. One day, he invited an older friend over. His friend arrived with a 6-pack of Colt 45, 16 oz. cans. I puked before finishing 1/2 of one can.

His friend owned a 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 with the 406 engine. We thought he was pretty cool.

Colt 45 malt liquor was pretty strong for a ‘beer.’ ABV 8.0%. High alcohol beer made with cheap ingredients.

Haffenreffer Private Stock in 16oz bottles. ABV 7%, I think. Nasty stuff. The bottle caps had puzzles on the inside. I was always too lit to decipher them.

I have every one of their albums, both as Steely Dan, and later as Fagen solos, and listen to them frequently. In fact only last night I was re watching their live concert in NYC recorded in 2000 for probably the fiftieth time. Their music always picks me up when I reach the ragged edge.

If you've never listened to "What Makes This Song Great" prepare to be blown away...

Rick Beato takes the tunes apart and you only gain respect for Becker and Fagen. Freakin Genious!!!
