Did any of you old farts have a crystal radio back in the 1960’s?
It was a match box sized device with an earphone and a slide that adjusted frequency.
I would connect an alligator clip to the metal window screen in my bedroom.
No batteries required and i Could listen to AM radio on a single earphone.

I think i paid $.50 shipped from the popular mechanics adds.

I remember building a DC motor from scratch for a merit badge. Creating motor brushes and all. Funny thing we were glueing / building a 3 HP brushless DC motor (about 2500 Watts) together this afternoon at work.

I went to bed Sunday night just fine
Yesterday I could hardly lift my arm at work, something "pinched" in the shoulder. Massage gun for about 10 minutes before bed last night, and this morning my entire shoulder girdle is killing me.
Only excuse (other than this thread's topic) is pad sanding the front of 4 drawers on Sunday.

That made me think of this, which personally I don’t think would make a person an old person, but I imagine reality would say otherwise.

I had a Star Trek communicator, a tricorder, and a phaser gun. They came as model pieces and I had to glue them together. My foster sister got me a complete set of blueprints to the Enterprise. It was about ten, huge, foldout pages. I used to lay them out and study them level by level. I guess that might make me a geek in addition to being an old fart.

They look considerably cooler in the photos on the box than in real life.

I found the blueprints on EBay for sale for $300!! Those had a pretty high sentimental value to me. I need to look through my old stuff. I may still have them.

In relation to my last post……and all of my other posts……you might be old and a little bit anal retentive (using that term might mean you’re old, too) if you go back and edit your posts to correct the spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors you made the first time, even though you did proofread it the first time.

In reality I’ve also been known to redo my sentences for better structure and readability.

Oh, can I play? When LJ was born I was a 38-year-old Navy Lieutenant stationed in Hawaii, married with a nine-year old daughter, about to transfer to the Washington D.C. area. I already had fifteen years in the Navy and had transitioned from being a Navy Chief to an officer three years earlier.
