Discovered Band of Brothers, one episode in. Strong so far, very strong, and I am not a fan of the guy that was in Homeland but he sorta works in this.

Wait a minute...just discovered it!? Man o' man, I'm glad you found it. It is EXCELLENT!

Damian Lewis does an incredible job in the role of Major Winters. He exudes a leader throughout the series.

They did a really good job with character development in this series too. Something that I find missing in a lot of others.

Enjoy!

I never saw Homeland, so I've only ever known Major Winters as Major Winters. That whole cast just works incredibly well, even the weird cameos (and up and coming stars). Great show, I rewatch it probably every year.

It's really sort of the first part of a trilogy.

"The Pacific" should be next, followed by "Masters of the Air", if you haven't seen them already.

Each has their high and low points, but overall-- all three are very well done and give you a feel of WWII from three different (sort of, since the air war was a *lot* different than the one on the ground) theaters of that war.

Lewis really bothered me in Homeland, I never bought into his acting but he is far better in Band of Brothers.

I am a little interested in war movies/series, not a buff but interested in how things played out. The Apocolypse WWI and Apocolypse WW2 French CDN series are outstanding viewing.

Early on, people mistook Lewis as the lead character in Homeland. He did a good job for his part of the storyline.

Super late to the party, but just started watching Prison Break on Netflix last week and got hooked. I think the show originally aired almost 20 years ago!

Correct. Claire Danes was the lead in Homeland. He was an ancillary character

Never saw Homeland so had to lookup who the actor was. I think he was great in Band of Brothers. I recently discovered it also (within the last year) and really enjoyed it, really liked The Pacific also, basically same exact thing but follows guys on the Pacific side of WW2.

I would watch these inbetween whatever else we were watching.

I recently discovered Peaky Blinders... I mean I guess I've known about it for a while, just never had any interest. Ran out of stuff and forced myself to start it. Honestly first 1-3 episodes I was like meh, but now I'm hooked and on season 3.

I tried to watch Avatar The Last Airbender on Netflix but I never got past the first episode... something about the acting or I dunno... it was just so bad. I'm not sure if it's just bad or they are trying to make it almost feel like cartoon style over dramatic or something, but I hate it.

You have to watch Homeland! Sucked me right in. I’ll be starting Band of Brothers. Need something to watch.

Homeland starts great but goes pear shaped season 5 through 7 but the last season redeems itself IMMENSLY.

Everyone tells me Peaky blinders but i can't get through episode 1.

Peaky Blinders is one of my fav's. However, I've tried to get friends and family into it and they just can't get rolling with it. It really does get better as it progresses.

Have you tried Boardwalk Empire?

I think of it as the American version of Peaky Blinders. Enjoyed it too!

BTW, I agree with you on Homeland. For me, it went a little sideways, politically (and I really try to be aware, understanding, and accepting of those things when watching tv and movies), for my taste in a few of those seasons. But, to each their own.

I had a hard time with first few episodes. Honestly if it wasn't for the fact I had nothing else to watch I probably would have quit it. However I'm glad I didn't I love it now.

Same happened to me with the last airbender... never got past the first episode and since I have peaky to watch now I haven't watched it anymore.

I watch everything with subtitles because every show has dialogue whisper quiet and tension/action ear splitting loud. So fucking annoying.

We watched The Brothers Sun on Netflix. It has been cancelled (no second season) and the storyline was mostly not great. Yet, I found it entertaining. The season ended in a way that could continue or be the series finales. 8 episodes is probably just right.

That's the one w Michelle Yeoh and kinda action+comedy? I couldn't get into it. Would recommend House of the Ninja instead.
