Im going to just throw out the wishlist here:

EV M3 - AWD with every trick their engineers have thought of to make it defy physics.

IC M3 - 9K redline I-6 NA, RWD only, with lots of hybrid torque fill down low. Same approach Bugatti took. With the EV M3, the specs can matter a little bit less and the driving experience can take center stage.

I know it won't happen but that would make for one heck of a "last M3"

Would be pretty amazing to have a six speed hybrid setup and I would hope with BMW's resources, they would. Hell, look at the Z4 manual as proof that fun cars still exist.
If they do decide to make the M3/4 ZF8 only, then the G87 & Z4 are the only last fun cars left in the lineup, yikes.
I think it’s been all but officially confirmed the manual is dead after the G chassis.

I was mainly kidding because I’m not buying the G80 to sell it one day, hence the sarcasm tag (/s). But I guess the argument would be that some thought the G80 would be the last ICE M3 and bought it hoping it would hold value by virtue of being the last fun M3.

Now we have even bigger nostrils to look forward to!

So they’ll end “M”?

Because eventually ICE will die.

Maybe hold that thought, it seems the B58 tu3 is experiencing some issues on low mileage units.
The video below points these out and gives some good insight into the changes and possible negative affects on various components.

This video doesn't say much of anything. Unless he's going to provide statistics on engines affected, the things he listed could be irregular occurrences and not real recurring issues. We could go back to when prior B58 variants were released and select things that failed and make a blanket statement saying the B58 isn't reliable or is a problematic engine. I am not familiar with him or his channel and he might have good content posted but this video seems to be produced to farm clicks and views.

I certainly didn’t get the impression this was produced to gain ‘clicks’, and I actually think he said a lot of everything.
I’ve watched quite a few of the videos posted by this guy, for me they provided some good insight into manufacturing changes, core engine difference (B to S models), potential issues and in my opinion honest content.
Maybe it’s nothing, but I appreciate when someone takes the time to flag these things up and it can’t be a bad thing imo.

Genuinely curious how these will sell. The main benefits of an ICE are engagement, sound and weight. Well, it won’t come with a manual (probably a torque converter), it will be very quiet given Euro7 restrictions and it will be heavier than ever before. Compared to the EV equivalent which, yes, has the same downsides, it will have quad motors and be an absolute rocket ship (I’m willing to bet faster than today’s plaid, and better in many other ways). I wouldn’t be surprised if the EV variant sells better.

At this point, I would think many petrol purists will start looking back, and investing in classics, whereas those adopting ‘latest and greatest’ will just get the EV (unless the market changes).

Well, that's a relief. At least it won't be weighting like XM Label.

I hate to be the one to say it but M3 prices don’t hold up brilliantly well. Every new generation takes the car in whole new directions and new buyers don’t want the old.

I’m all for data and info, but the way he frames his video is like these issues will happen like it’s an inherent problem with the B58TU3.

I haven’t seen any BMW technical documentation referencing the problems in his video or any SOP for techs to look out for if a customer comes in with symptoms so I’m taking these problems as an isolated issue and not something to be worried about at all.

Again, that’s my interpretation of his video. It’s not what he says or doesn’t, it’s more of how he said it and the thumbnail he uses for engagement - it’s typical social media tactics.

More heavier and bigger M3 on the horizon.
The G80 will be the last true M3 car.
