It’s tough just laying there. I’m sure he’ll do better with all the rehab he’ll be getting.

I was ready to go after 11 days. Even my respiratory therapist wondered why I was still there.

They totally worked me. And I pushed as hard as I could. Laying in bed stretching now. We’ll do it again tomorrow! The whole crew took excellent care of me, as expected. Oh, and that shower? Water has never felt so good. 😊

Sitting. Standing isn’t in the wheelhouse yet.

Got it!

And yeah, understand about the wife. I'm sure she visits often, though. Yes?

Yes she is here every day. Doesn’t quite hang with snuggling in our own bed!

Yep, I understand. You'd probably prefer a conjugal visit.

First session (8:00-9:00) went great. Got back to my room and I was hit by uncontrollable shivers and shakes. My temp went from normal to 102.5 in about 20 minutes. All of a sudden we’re shifting gears again to diagnosis. X-ray, blood work, ultrasounds and they say I have DVT clotting. IV antibiotics and this morning I am back to normal. There is no set schedule on the weekend for PT, so will just grab sessions as available. Thanks for asking Esteban !

Hang in there HBHB! There will be no doubt some more bumps in the road to recovery but you've got a big bunch of us pulling for you. Four weeks seems like an eternity now but it'll go fast. We look forward to seeing you out of the hospital and active again.

Thanks, Llarry , much appreciated. I’ve already had 17 total nights in here, and for most of it had tubes and lines and sensors sticking out of just about every part of my body. 25 nights to go with (hopefully) none of that. Piece of cake, right?

Hey Hubba, how was your weekend? Back to rehab now I’m assuming? Hope things are going smoothly with no more obstacles, not that you can’t overcome them. Wishing you the best, my friend.

Hiya Esteban. Thanks for checking in. I did do 2 hours of PT each day of the weekend. I got some really good work in, and the rehab gym was empty. That’s my kind of gym. Yes totally back to normal today. I had actually almost 4 hours of PT today. Also got another shower, that felt great. There are some things that I’m just really tickled about in my progress, and also things that are a bit frustrating. The good progress far outweighs the bad! I’m sure that’ll be the way for a little while yet, but you’re right, I’m going to kick its butt. I’m not sure if I mentioned this above, but nerves heal at a rate of about 1 mm per day. I’m glad I’m not super tall! Thanks again for checking in!

Hello everyone.

I just wanted to give a little update. Progress has been really good. I am taking full advantage of my therapy time, and my therapist is more than willing to make me work even harder. My goals are to stand unassisted by the end of day on Friday, and to be able to stand, take a step or two, and pivot before end of day on March 1. That leads up to going home on March 6! That will put me at exactly 6 weeks in here total. My son and wife have been busy making our home accessible for me, and I really can’t wait to be home. I have a good outpatient therapy center lined up for after I get out, and will be doing that for at least a month. I want to thank all of you for your prayers and concern. Please keep them coming!
