Finally, did they maintain materials quality or are there budget considerations where you feel them in the car?
I can't imagine the EV will NOT be sufficient for cruising around town. I daily drove an X5 45e for a couple years (similar range, est.) and that was more than fine.

I think you may be being uncharitable.

The 2024 USA i5 M60 didn’t have the options of adaptive M suspension pro, or the active roll stabilization. These can only be optioned (finally) on the 2025. Although many YouTube video reviews mention these features (driven in Europe), you couldn’t possible have driven a car so equipped in the States, which probably explains the body roll comments.

As to handling, well, the i5 M60’s or at the BMW events can have various suspensions, plus various wheels and tires, ranging from 19” to 21”, summer or all season. So when people say the handling was poor, or there was a lot of road noise, which suspension, wheels and tires were equipped? 19” on all season (are those run-flats in that case)? It makes a difference so I can easily see how a lot of cars sitting on dealer lots aren’t equipped right for any kind of sporty driving.

What's your YouTube channel? I live in IL and going to Munich next week for work as well. Mine is stuck in Order Received state but plan on seeing one in the flesh while there.

By the way, today started BMW M5 press presentation. So videos of testing should be expected really soon.

Not soon soon, but in about 10 days, then more in November. Testing started 2 weeks ago.

I live in Europe. We have cruel taxes on high-CO2 cars. G90 makes the M5 ‘affordable’ here. I accept there a weight compromise but it’s that or the car is equivalent of about US$220,000 if ICE only.

Please prove me wrong BMW

I will say John Kelly product manager NA was at the event I was at Saturday and I got to ask him several questions about the sedan and touring and he’s been driving it for the past 3500 miles and my main question was is it better than my F90 cause that’s been my favorite car by far. He said it’s different and better both at the same time. He said it’s incredible. I know he’s BIASED but this gives me a little hope cause you could tell he was genuine and isn’t a dishonest person by any means. My hope is that he’s 100% on point and isn’t exaggerating. No reviews = no good. John Kelly high praises = Good. So far we’re dead even. Let’s see…..
I’m right beside you bro! My sedan goes on the production line week 47 (W/c. Nov 21). I expect delivery to me at my dealer, Jan 3.

The social media beat downs on the car have been a bit depressing. But that seems par for the course these days.

On the upside, I’m currently driving the 55e PHEV. B58 engine + EV. And it’s very capabale. Augers well for the G90.

Here’s hoping!

My i5 M60 also handles well for its weight, the rear wheel steering contributes greatly to its agility, but I can definitely feel its 5,200lbs, although the car is nicely balanced with its near as makes no difference 50/50 weight distribution. I don’t know what the weight distribution of the G90 is but the 540ix is 55/45 and is noticeable when driving it.

On the street I’m betting the G90 will be a beast, but on the track, you just can’t fight Newtons laws of physics.

And the lack of a center console shifter really bothers me on the G90. On the i5 M60 it’s acceptable because you know you are driving a BEV, the M5 is supposed to be a true sports sedan with real engagement.

FMP… I’ve a G90 on order and your comment only made me notice that lack of centre-console shifter! ROFL.
FML.

It’ll be epic. Very confident.

I never use the centre console gearshift anyway, TBH. All good.

Funny tho.

When do we get to see a street test drive? I want to see some 0-60, 1/4 mile runs and it hustling thru some turns.

We better see a 10.5 @ 130 with this power level... although the whole 5500 lbs may cause trouble lol.

When reviews are coming is answered elsewhere in this thread, so if you want to know that info just scroll back.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/bdwTW-V5iAQ

From the comments in this video:
Timed it exactly by frame:
0-100 km/h - 3.3 seconds (0-60 mph in 3.0)
0-200km/h = 10 seconds
Previous version did 0-200 in 10.3 seconds for the comp, whereas the m5 cs did it in 9.6 seconds for reference

Although there are comments saying those numbers are not correct... albeit by someone who comes across as kind of a dick

What people don't seem to be taking into account (including in the power-to-weight ratio) is that the hybrid setup likely flattens out the power output curve significantly. Not that you ever had to wait long for the ICE to come up to full power/torque, but with the PHEV setup, you get full EV output immediately while the ICE revs up.

i want to see the 1/4 trap speed... top end is where that weight will hurt the most... frame timing is a bit iffy honestly... but I am curious to see instrumented testing

Thanks! I got the info from The Straight Pipes. Maybe it's 11/7 on the Canadian calendar.

A bit off, as in "it wasn't October 7, which was fifteen days ago?" I mean, we all know that wasn't correct.

The M5's EV will be more than fine for around town. You should test drive a 50e just to see the difference. Huge upgrade from the 45e. 0-30 speed went from 4 seconds down to about 2.5 seconds.

Yeah, well, I mean my friend always says his Nissan Leaf is always one of the fasted cars through the first 20 feet of the intersection.

The i3 was the fastest car BMW produced from 0-30 mph during its run!
