Yea I am not proud of it, I have a bad habit of switching phones constantly and I can't seem to stop. For example, currently not including the 'older' phones that are sitting in random drawers, I have a S6 Edge, BB Passport Silver Edition and I pre-ordered the iPhone 6S. The wife isn't too happy about all this obviously lol.

Actually the tech blogs have stated that the iPhone 6S has the most improvements from any iPhone model to its S version so far.

I found the perfect phone that I just upgraded to. You should get this one.

In Verizon's case, yes. So I'd imagine the same holds true for the other carriers.

My job pays for my phone bill so this actually all works in my favor. I get phones for free.
I was looking at AT&T (my carrier) this weekend. Seems like you pay for the phone for 30 mos. but can upgrade after 24, so not exactly sure how that works. Also, you pay less for service while you have the phone but then price for service increases when you trade it in for a new one, which you also need to pay for. Overall, I think I'd need to spend too much time figuring out the best approach to updating my phone relative to what I'd gain so I decided to just hold on to my 5S for the foreseeable future.

Yeah I suspect that only those who need new phones every year will look deeply into it but for a lot of people, they'll look into it once their phone breaks or becomes borderline inoperable.

While I have an iPhone 6, the 6S sounds promising, it does seem to have a decent amount of upgrades despite being the "S" variant which tends to not really have too many differences from its predecessor. But like I noted earlier, since work pays the phone bill, may as well get the phone.

I'm self employed so my work is me. If I had a traditional employer that paid for it, doubtful I'd spend much time analyzing phone costs either (or plans for that matter). Let us know how it is when you get it. One of the things that always make me pause when it comes to upgrades is wondering if the new phone works as well with my car's Bluetooth as my current phone. I had an issue like that when I upgraded an old Blackberry years ago and that + deterioration in overall quality of BB is what got me to switch over to an iPhone (vs. getting an iPhone for the iPhone features like most everyone else). Also wish phones would stop getting larger (again contrary to the majority of the population).

With you on that. Samsung kept breaking on my last 2 bmws so ditched android for ios been happy ever since. Ordered a 6s now since my 5s has a lot of dust on camera issues.

Dang, my son's B-day is coming up and I was going to upgrade him from his 4, but probably only to a 5. Mine is even older than his. I don't get any more iOS updates, but I HATE the idea of a bigger phone in my pocket when I'm trying to pick up the turtle so I can mow the lawn. . .

So I think I was probably one of the first few people to have this in Edmonton. Not that it makes me feel any special or anything, just nerdy! lol.

Changed my mind from the 6S in Silver I had reserved to a 6S Plus in Space Grey. Luckily I was able to do it on the spot even though the guy was telling me to go at the back of the non-reserved phone lines as I wasn't getting the one that I initially reserved. A couple of minutes and I was able to smooth talk him into just letting me have the plus.

Anyone knows if the phones are unlocked? I ordered two through the Apple site with AT&T as my carrier. I chose the "pay without contract" option and paid for both of them right out. Are those unlocked?

If you paid without contract they should be no matter whom you purchased it from.

If they are carrier specific phones then they won't be unlocked. For example, if you specifically purchased the AT&T version then they will most likely be locked to AT&T. To get the unlocked version you would specifically need to purchase the unlocked version which provides no contractual option and only an outright purchase option. The fact that you say you had a choice make me think you bought the AT&T versions outright which means they would be unlocked to AT&T.
