A $70k Supra will be a mistake if it's badged a Toyota. Pricing it that high would go against nearly everything Tetsuya Tada stands for regarding performance cars, not to mention the current market for two-seat coupes by "plebian" marques ... and if it's more expensive than the Z5, it'll be an even bigger mistake. Now if it's badged a Lexus, that changes everything. But by the looks of that mule, it ain't gonna be no Lexus.

Rumors are it may be Hybrid and have AWD - $70k is a lot and a huge step up from 86 pricing.
Maybe there will be a base version in RWD and non-hybrid that will be cheaper i hope. |

My 95 supra tt stickered for 58k if I recall, still have it in my closet along with the spare key and touch up paint. My z4 m coupe about the same almost 10 years later. In that regard I don't think 70k is out of line given the last supra's price, adjusted for inflation I got over 90k on the site I checked.

Nobody bought it back then hence it was discontinued.
There are a ton of performance cars these days with base price under $70k including M2/3/4....Supra should be around $50k-70k for it to sell, on par with Corvette |

Granted they only sold around 11k in the states from 93-98, but my point still stands that at 70k it wouldn't be out of line considering historical pricing. Still might not sell though. Also much of this will depend upon what the car actually gets delivered with tech and engine wise so it can be compared to existing offerings a little more closely.

Especially when the corvette and rx7 was so much cheaper. It was still worth it in my view, there weren't that many vehicles as capable available at the time. My 95 would embarrass my 383 LPE firebird with nothing more than a downpipe and 18 psi and that 383 had more power than when delivered from Lingenfelter having bumped comp, changed cam and heads. Ran 11.5's @ 122 on radials and stock twins and low 10's @ 140+ with a smallish single and about 600 hp. Had 900 whp in the final setup but I never ran it again although similar customer cars I did were trapping over 153 at full weight. Great cars and they can handle too, having a arms all around and good balance.
