How old are you? Single, Married, Kids? Activities outside of work? Advancement potential at each company? Are your goals job related or more personal? Do you enjoy your career field?
A few years ago I would have said Job #2 without batting an eye. After years of bending over backwards to get ahead (where I was actually moving up too), I've started to see the benefits of more free time and burned out a bit. Part of that could also be getting to the right salary levels that you are comfortable slowing down a bit, definitely not rich or anything, just have enough to live comfortably. It also makes a huge difference if you enjoy your job and coworkers compared to not. Work-life balance is a good thing if you take advantage of it for things you enjoy. Take that free time and go to the gym, cook nice meals, brew your own beer, sleep more, etc.

That being said - job 1... hands down... can't put a price tag on work life balance... |

Take that remaining $66k and determine how much is remaining at that bracket before government plundering and determine if the remaining amount is worth your free time, flexibility, not blowing 6 precious hours per week commuting, etc.
Personally, job 1 sounds ideal for my life but our situations aren't the same. |

Without a family, job 2.
Bank roll that until family and other things come into the equation and then get a job 1 type of job only with extra financial cushion. Instead of lifestyle inflation with job 2, try to save even more so that you could even take that teaching job if you cared to. |

Why do you think I'm having trouble justifying Job 2?

Sorry....is that a typo?
Do you actually mean having trouble justifying job 1 as an option? I spent a good chunk of my childhood growing up with grandparents that lived through the depression and I dont think my upbringing/work ethic would allow me to even consider job 1 for a moment |

Suffice it to say i lived with my grandparents on and off for other reasons and it was the best thing that could have happened to me in terms of role models/etc At least in my opinion too many people suffer from a deficit of work ethic, morals, values and personal responsibility Ive known too many people who have taken that dream job where they work very little and are not expected to do all that much.....and they wonder what happened when the position they were filling gets RIF'd.....its because their contribution wasnt valuable IDK....everyone has to do whats right for them....so long as they are responsible for themselves I dont really care much |

If you're having a hard time weighing out the pro's and con's of each and actually coming out with a clear winner, perhaps consider which opportunity is a rarer find in your career field and choose to explore that one, knowing that the other job option is more easily reproducible in the future should you regret your decision.
My personal vote goes to #1. |

So a lot of folks here have asked if you were married/have kids and your age... You dogging the questions? Really helps to answer these simple questions if you're really looking for advice.
Are you really going to take the advice of a poll on a fucking OT douchbag forum for career choice? |

Do they need any other employees? i work 9-9 everyday, 30min lunch break, no bonus, no company expense card, available on call no matter time or day, and make 4 times less than job 1!
to me, job 1 seems like a better option... meaning there seems to be more growth in a F25 company rather than a F500. |

Id get bored with job 1 too, but while you have it, it is nice. I just prefer more money over more free time, cause even though job 1 says the job ends at 4:30, does it really? I always bring work home with me, even when I dont have to. |
