I will probably by an E46 M3 or an Mcoupe from like 2000, but i am NOT buying any of these newer models.
BMW has officially gone to shit with so many Cars, Trucks etc, its like toyata with a hefty price tag and without the reliability.

you can officially now called BMW, Big. Money. Whore.

Don't understand why so many people are crying over this. BMWs have never been exclusive, they're as mainstream as Toyota or whatever "low level" brand you guys are trying to rail. The existence of this car doesn't make an M3 or 6-Series any less of a great car. Does an S-Class owner concern themselves with the existence of the V-Class? No, they just enjoy the amazing car they have for what it is, not for what it's related to 🙄 Snobbery like what's on display in this thread is why BMW owners have such a bad rep for being douchebags imo

Well none of this is any surprise. BMW cannot be what it was and will not be. It has to compete with the packaging advantages of front wheel drive from its competitors from MB and Audi. Additionally things are changing. My phone does not have a cord on it like it did when the E30 M3 came out. Things change.

Also remember if you want any internal combustion engine in any BMW buy it before 2030. Germany has outlawed new vehicles powered by gasoline or diesel internal-combustion engines starting in 2030. See Road and Track:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...gines-by-2030/

If you like something now or from the past buy it now. The next 15 years of car technology will have to be vastly different from our past.

Yeah, I don't understand all the hate. It looks good enough and kicks off a new era of better handling sedans from BMW. The 3-series has gotten so large and unrewarding to drive that I welcome a new smaller sedan into the lineup. The current lineup is a big reason why I own an S3. Bravo BMW

What are your thoughts on the S3? We see a lot of them in the city and I love the way the look. We'll will be moving to the burbs this spring/summer an am definitely considering one.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, if they can garnish this car with all the love they gave to the M2 and make an argument for not getting an audi S3, I'll stay with them. If not, its time to either jump ship or pick up a ZHP.

When I was a kid growing up, BMW was a sporty RWD saloon 3er or a 5er. Aspirational.

Vertical slim kidneys, dual round headlights.

Iconic.

I know I'm getting a bit nostalgic but even the fact we can say it looks live this or that or a Volvo is sad. Cars are getting homogenous, over complicated and a bit crap. Maybe autonomous is the future and I won't mind. Feeling a tad grumpy tonight, sorry. I love BMW really but sigh.

I'm seeing a Cross between a Volkswagen and a Comet, they'll probably call it a Vomit, and I'm sure it will come in 6 puckey colors.

I hope they will release a RWD 2 series GC for the RoW. This one is less attractive than a Jetta.
A3 Sedan and CLA are way more special than this crap.
X1, 2 Series Vans and now another abomination.. I would better buy an older model than these ones!

I've actually had the privilege of driving a 5-door 1 series before. Therefore I will miss a RWD 1 series. Unless they're resurrecting it as a 2 series grand coupe with a hatch rear.

BTW, having owned the old X1 and the new X1, I don't lament the loss of RWD. Not one bit.
Rear drive hatch is the one USP that BMW has in the world currently, the performance version is fantastic. The option of xdrive should be rolled out world, but with RWD as standard even if the hot hatch becomes part of the 2er range.

Let's hope they don't screw that up or I might look else where next purchase.

The back looks better than the 2 series. They just need to make those back lights more vertically narrower

pfffft.... that's like saying BMW drivers don't use their blinkers. of course we use our blinkers. bmw emits lights that poor people can't see.

Based in the majority of reactions in this forum, most members hate this car, and for good reasons. As I wrote in my thread starter, it really is the end of an era for BMW: RWD-based sedans...
