I dont get offended, this doesnt offend me, but my opinion is that this is too far for a soft drink ad. Probably better for pepsi to stay out of these discussions

I don't understand how this made it past the brainstorming phase. It's a dumb commercial with a dumb premise and any dope in the ad department should have seen that this would cause a shitstorm.

Companies should just stay AWAY from politics. It's one of the oldest rules in business.
Social media has made everybody dumber including execs and marketing agencies. |

Exactly this, what a terrible ad in general. Pepsi is trying to convey an image associated to drinking its pop with this add. The fact that the "living bolder" image is so watered down by the actual mix of messages of the types of people in this ad are frustrating. Sure each of these people and the different ethnicities portray some sort of boldness the general feeling of this ad is just a "fakeness" that is purely infuriating. Way to play into something that's been done before Pepsi and done better. |

On the contrary, social media has allowed them more information than ever before. The last 2 years is the first time in my life that I can recall pretty much every adult having some interest and opinion about social welfare and politics in the US. This is made very apparent on social media. Companies like pepsi have noticed, and the boldest have tried to use this "new" interest as a platform for selling product. Obviously a risky move when it comes to something like politics.

Basically, thanks to social media one cannot escape politics! You can just be watching highlights to get your mind off the world then ESPN will start some PC gibberish. You can't watch nfl or nba w/o some more preaching in your face. Forget late night comedy or movies altogether. Everybody wants to generate controversy and get talked about online. Social media has been good in many ways, but it's also given the dumbasses of society a voice. |
