with the things people are capable of today, and how data is collected and shared, i would make EVERY effort to hide EVERY possible personal information, since i have no idea what they can do with it
don't try to find a reason for it, there are too many, and some of which you can't even imagine
if i see someone in the parking lot staring at my plates i would blur it for that instance too but not possible in real life

Apparently how Steve Jobs rolled too.

My idiot neighbor just keeps changing the expiration date on his paper plates. I just assume it's a stolen car.

In many states, you're required to register your car at your primary residence and obtain a state drivers license if you qualify as a resident. Some states even require you to get plates if you're working in the state.

This.

It's pieces of a puzzle. The internet is permanent. Post enough of your life online and it becomes pretty easy to figure out where you live, where you work, what you own, and when you are away from home. So go ahead and don't blur your plates.

exactly. if you wanted to steal cars goto a nice cars and coffee or historic/high end car etc. You can take all the pictures of all the license plates you want there. If there was any place to hide your license plate it would be at a show not the internet.

Would you post your address here on the forums?

If ANY of you are concerned about your license plates on photos on the internet please don't tell me you have any type of social media account.

I always blur my license plate because there are those who CAN get my address from it. I like my privacy. Not only that, it's pretty easy to do tastefully, and it makes me feel better.

Photobucket really fucked themselves over. How many photos did they break on thousands of forums all over the net dating back 14 years? They are attempting to hold all those photos ransom now, and we are supposed to trust them?

I hope imgur never does this.

Here's the easiest flowchart for internet companies.

Does someone else offer it for free?

If yes, don't even think about charging for it.

Have fun being dead, photof*ckit.

There are a lot of classic car forums which are no longer actively curated, so all of the pictures hosted on Photobucket of DIYs, wiring diagrams, part number lists, etc are essentially lost forever. I will never use their service ever again because of this.

It's like we burned the Library of Alexandria again.. Fuck them.

I do it so no one steals my one-of-a-kind car. After all the time that went into this car, I don't want anyone to know where I live, and then stealing it out of envy.

But honestly that is not why I do it it was joke I do it for insurance purposes it's cheaper to register my cars and insurance at my other address and it's legal since I live there enough along with vote there and file tax there

Mine is clearly a tax title and insurance thing just made paranoia joke outta my situation
Your car is to be insured for where it is primarily garaged.

Same for license.

That means majority if the time.

If you live there "enough" ... or the majority of the time, then you haven't hidden your address.

Furthermore, if not, you are committing multiple State and Federal Laws...the least of which if you get in a serious accident, you might find yourself uncovered by your Insurance.

Those offering it for free will most likely be next to go belly up, leaving more dead forums and webpages in the near future.

Comically most have stated they are going to flickr....owned by Yahoo and just purchased by Verizon. We know Verizon gives away their services for free, so this is such an intelligent move, roflmao.

It would have been nice if photobucket had announced that all photos posted after 8/1/2017 would not be available on hosted sites without a paid account so as not to destroy all this history....but I suspect that might not have cut their server expenses enough to maintain a business.

I saw the same thing happen with the service most used before photobucket (imageshack) and learned the lesson then.

The only way to assure history is kept is to upload to a forum....and hope the forum doesn't go heads up.

Bottom line, any free site that allows photo hosting on third party sites where its ads cannot be seen will eventually become 1) Paid Site or 2) Out of Business.

Someone has to pay the bill. The money has to come from somewhere.
