You went with a Kia? I guess you left out the "daily driver" part from your thread title.

This car was designed around the s85, therefore, the SMG was the ‘proper trans’. However, whenever that cog shows up on the dash, it could be at least a $7k repair bill. The 6MT would be the worry free trans but they are hard to find. He knows what he has so he’ll be able to sell it at 1/2 EAG monie$.

No, I love the talk of e60 M5’s and why we shouldn’t get one

Like most M cars that are low miles, they can fetch a large premium. Most e39's have over 100k miles so you can pick them up for $20-$30k. I bought a mint condition one from EAG which of course is more money because of the miles and the condition they deliver their cars. They just sold one with 8800 miles for $100k.

Down here in Scarface Land, I see them for sale from $10k-$25k depending on mileage and condition. IMHO they will go up in value but understand your point.

This thread got me looking at e60 M5’s again and I found a 07 with 73k for $20k and according to Carfax the SMG clutch was recently replaced. My spidey senses tell me that it’s due for all fluid changes, spark plugs, throttle body actuators and the infamous rod bearing job. Kind of hard to persuade the better 1/2 to get this.

upstatedoc, interior shots?

The best sports sedan considered by many with a 4.9L NA V8. Tell me where you can find performance in a modern car today for that price?

The V10 is enticing, but I would stay away from the e60.

The mechanic of our merry band of crazy car owners just purchased the Stinger and loves it. It's a fantastic car and had no trouble keeping up with us on our, "spirited drive".

On the E60 M5/E63 M6: They have to be driven to behave properly...period, end of story. I've never owned a car that requires such a symbiotic relationship with the owner and does so poorly when driven by others. If you let it get ahead of you, you won't catch back up again and it will bite you in the butt...hard.

Once you learn it and it learns you, there are few cars that provide a more satisfying drive. The engines are an absolute power orgy and symphonic tour de force. I have Dinan Suspension, Dinan Carbon Fiber Intake and rear stress bar, AC Schnitzer billet aluminum front stress bar, Evolve Motorsports tune, RPI RAM intake modified to compliment the Dinan CF intake, Tubi Section 2 and Tubi Rumore Section 3. It sounds like the pre-eco F1 cars...completely sexy!!

Enjoy the Stinger!!
