I was really hyped on the Redline 360c, but the latest video from Vortex doesn't sound promising. The main reasons I'm looking to upgrade my detector are for directional arrows and improved BSM filtering. I have some long driving trips coming up and don't think I want to wait and see if Escort improves the Redline 360c through updates. I've narrowed my choices to the V1 Gen 2 and the Uniden R7. The V1 Gen 2 doesn't have GPS built in but I think seeing Valentine One ads in Roundel Magazine for as long as I can remember has me leaning that way.

I have been using the Redline360C it has some initial glitches that I hope will be dealt with by firmware updates, before the return period ends, via their Detector Tools Pro program which is also how the database is updated. I hope that it works out it is a very convenient package.
The V1Gen2 has significant issues that require the detector to be sent in. I was planning to purchase the V1Gen2 when the the back order caught up but there has been really no major rework. Power problems, front panel disconnecting, rear horn ghosting, and other issues. There are apps for both Android and Ios to use with the V1Gen2 which adds a lot of functionality but not as convenient as having GPS in the detector. You have thirty days with both the Redline and the Valentine to try them out. Order both and see what floats your boat. Just do not run them at the same time! Nothing new today is really a finished product. If arrows are what you want check out the Uniden R7 as well I think it is available at Best Buy. Good Luck! Does anyone have updates on the V1G2? I know that they had issues prior to them being shut down for CV-19, but any experience with them since they've started shipping again?
I was all set to pull the trigger, but the myriad of issues that seem to have come up has me worried. TIA |

I’ve been following the V1G2 threads since it became available.
Can be a very quiet detector and maybe the coolest detector for the nerd. Speeding in the real world is very tricky. A Uniden R1 with a mute button on the power cord is a formidable detector at $200. |

The Redline360c is the latest hot detector. It has built in GPS with weekly database update of red light cameras etc. It does not require the use of apps and and be connected to a phone for this functionality. The latest independent tests show it a formidable contender. I purchased launch day the 1.3 firmware update made the initial issues go away. The firmware is also updated via WiFi or direct computer connection the V1Gen2 has to be factory updated.
Like ScottSinger suggested spend some time on RDF to make an informed decision. Good Luck! |

Don't you have Mobile Phone Apps for this? Germany got lots of them. A good one is „Blitzer.de". Works in Switzerland and Austria too. Of course I don't use it here in Switzerland, because it's illegal 😉🤫

How would a mobile app detect a loan hidden police car shooting radar on a seldom used stretch of road. |

I'm close to buying a detector and I'm leaning towards the V1 G2 because it seems to be a pretty powerful solution so long as you don't mind using a phone along with it.
My question is, considering that it will be connected to my phone via bluetooth, does that limit my phone's interaction with the car or anything else? I don't think so, but I'm also not 100% sure. Thank!

The issue that I have with the V1Gen2 is the lack of GPS hence the need to use a phone with JBV1 which is extremely powerful. Download the JBV1 and fool around with it. JBV1 is Android only there is another fine app V1Driver that does IOS as well as Android. I was ready to order the V1Gen2 when the Redline 360c was introduced. It has the capability without the need for a phone. I have had multiple Escort as well as Valentine detectors. Good Luck and enjoy! |

One other tidbit that you might be aware of is that in PA radar can only be used by the state police. They use K band not Ka be careful which mode you run it in. Enjoy & Good Luck! |

I have to say that the V1G2 paired with JBV1 is a seriously powerful solution! I can't believe that app is free. I donated to the developer what I'd be willing to pay for such an app.
A few days in using this combination and I'm loving it. In my truck I can have JBV1 on my phone and Waze on the truck's android auto. In my M2C JBV1 and Waze work together that I could have either or up and not lose any functionality. I know some see it as a con for the V1G2 not having onboard GPS and some of the built in features of other competitors, but I think pairing it with JBV1 is a more powerful solution. Yes, you have to run an app which some see as a con, but I have it set that JBV1 launches automatically and it, in turn, launches waze automatically. Then, when I get out of the vehicle and it loses connection with the V1G2, JBV1 shuts down itself and Waze. It's basically seamless once you have everything set the way you want. There's so many options in JBV1 that it's overwhelming at first and I'm still learning all of it's possibilities. Again, I can't believe it's free but the developer is committed to keeping it free. Love it!

JBV1's Android only, yeah?
I like my old V1G1, but from all of the issues I've heard about the V1G2, I'm holding off-- maybe a 360C or a Theia (if it's ever released). |
