You're saying your ride is harsh, you even comment on the known fact that rft's are the largest contributors of this problem but you dont do anything to fix this? You can afford a 50k car but cant afford new tires? They dont even have to be performance tires. I dont get you man, you remind me of my adolescent sister looking for attention

I wanted a C-class before I bought my current car. Then I sat in it. Very poor interior for a Mercedes-Benz, exacerbated by the fact that this is a car that you pay premium over a Japanese or domestic car. The funny thing is that the C63 will get you the same sh*tty plastics, but the seats are a welcome upgrade.
Harsh ride is due to run flats, but in general sportier cars will have harsher setups than cushy cars. I came from a 350Z on coilovers and I thought this car was the softest car in the world. And that car was way worse on blind spots, BTW. Even my mom's RX330 is relatively harsh, with 17" wheels and a Corolla platform. In general, if you are forced to buy a car, chances are you aren't going to like it as much as you want to. |

hey bimmer loyalist, you don't have to answer this post, but please do so if you want to. How long have you had your e92? Does the ride get harsher over time with the RFTs or does it stay the same as it is now for me. How do you like your ride? What are the pros and cons?

Swap em out for non-runflats dude. They're cheaper, lighter, less noisy, and better riding. I've had my e92 just over a year (1st year mark was Oct 9th) and am on my third set of tires. First two were RFTs. Right now I'm running General Exclaim UHPs. Much better, though I'm not sure if the handling is just as good as it used to be. I do know that there is no longer any play in the steering, and tramlining is nearly non-existant.

Am I the only person that thinks the E92 isn't really that stiff? I have sport suspention and RFT and sometimes i wish the springs were stiffer and the car had less body roll. But as for a stock car i think the E92 has an almost perfect balance of comfort/sportiness. As to the OP don't blame the car for doing what its designed to do, blame yourself for buying the wrong car!

Hey Bmoney2k4,
I remember your previous threads. You should sort out your emotional issues first before embarking on a cycle of regret and second guessing. Having a clear head will make it easier to see your situation. You should also realize that buying a car (whether it be BMW or MB or any other) to reward yourself is not going to cure your primary problems. On the contrary, it can and will only complicate your problems even more by distracting you from the root cause. Seriously, go seek professional help. And this is coming from someone who is in the medical field.

The 335i, particularly with sport suspension (standard on the coupe) is not for everyone. The RFTs ride hard and can be jarring on bad surfaces. I can understand how some people would prefer a Mercedes, a Lexus ES or even a Camry, all of which are perfectly good cars. If you are not particularly interested in performance, and a lot of people aren't, the 335i may not be the way to go.

The E90 (up to 2008) has relatively small mirrors. Euro market E90s -- and many/most Euro cars have wide-angle mirrors. The US DOT thinks we're too stupid to understand how to use them, so we get flat mirror glass in the left mirror.
http://www.toolworks.com/bilofsky/boxster/mirrors.html (Porsche Boxster, but nice pictures and the same kind of Euro mirrors are available for BMWs ... and VWs and Volvos too.) http://www.bmwdiy.info/aspheric-mirror/index.html Switch the tires and the mirrors. It's much cheaper than a Mercedes. The nice thing about BMWs is that you can easily modify them to fit your personal tastes and preferences.

Do you think you could buy a car, turn around sell it 3 weeks later and not loose money? Well, it's pretty close to the same idea for a lease but, you honestly might end up a little better with the lease. |

I'm trully suprised BMW has the nerve to call some of their cars "Ultimate Driving Machines".....no fucking LSD in a "Ultimate Driving Machine"!!!!! If you want one, but a 70k M3!!!! Of course, the BMW fanboys and this forum are like blind dogs....and their cars are the greatest!!!! BMW please go fuck yourself and go out of business. Now is the time!!! I HATE BMW!!!!!!!

OP, I understand you. I have been forced to drive a car I didn't like for two years. I know how difficult it is. My friends were jealous of this car and I was getting a lot of compliments (sidenote: I prefer to get compliments for me than for my car), but I can barely see what was good in it: it was looking nice, but it was the worst car I've driven so far. In my case it also meant 2 years of back pains because the seats were far too soft. At the end I was really upset, and I was more happy to get rid of this car than to get the new one.
Now, if the comfort and driving position are the most important to you, don't forget to test a Jaguar. I find it much better than Mercedes or Lexus. Last edited by nidget; 11-24-2008 at 08:44 AM.. |

I have a 2009 335i sedan with M Sport suspension and runflats and I really wouldn't want a softer suspenstion, I think that the current setup is ideal. Even over bumps...

I drove a C300 sport. The car is rock solid which is to be expected from a Benz. The interior of the C300 sport was super cheap. Vast expanses of cheap plastic reminded me of a Pontiac G6. The sport pkg is much softer than BMW (I don't know if you have sport or not), but aside from tuning of the suspension, the MB sport rides on taller non-rft's, and smaller wheels. Mesh leather seats is nice touch. I didn't like the center display in the MB. It's manual close only (nicer touch would have automatic close when key is pulled out of ignition).
C350 is only 26x+ hp, vs the 300 hp TT in the 335i, but it's of course cheaper too. V6 of the MB gives you a different driving experience, neither better or worse, just different. |

I will trade my sedan for yours in a second. It is in perfect condition and it is just gorgeous.
It only has 14000 miles and 18 months remaining on the lease.

You bough an xi model with non sport suspension, I could fit two fists in that wheel gap, what did you expect? Did you not try the idrive before you opted as it for an option? You're a tool. Stop whining baby. These are things you need to think of before you spend 50k. |
