Hard pass.

Crack a window open(assuming you have one) and it's dry in 10mns, zero mould. It doesn't leak at all and gas strut so no seizing.

All the above from 5 years of having one

Curtain for sure. Glass dors look nicer for sure, but you need to clean them every time after shower.

If you are considering a zero entry shower I strongly suggest you find a contractor who has done several, and then ask owners how well they work. It’s not rocket science, but the construction techniques are critical, so they can’t just build the same way as other showers and not have leakage of water.

The best way to frame for a zero entry shower is to recess the entire shower pan floor about 1.5”- 2” lower than the bathroom floor. Then install a pre-sloped pan (something like the Schluter Kerdi products) that sends water toward a linear drain on an inside wall. The entire bathroom floor is then covered with moisture barrier, and the final step is to install the tile over it all.

Most high quality new construction will have two layers of 3/4” underlayment under the tile. You can recess one layer down between the joists, and use the new pan to replace the 2nd layer. This recess, combined with a very minimal curb (1/4”?) will usually give you the slope you need without any major framing changes.

My new glass doors have an option called Enduroshield that has a 10year streak free warranty that’s applied during manufacturing. They also have a kit you can apply to existing glass that has a 3 year warranty, technology finally making sense

You need 5” to play with to do properly. I’ve just redone a bath and was considering this look but as the room has less than 8ft ceilings it wouldn’t work with 3” I had, you do need someone very skilled to pull it off or you’ll have problems in the main floor

I spent about three hours a couple of weekends ago with my buffer and some polishing compound getting the residue off, then used the Gtechniq C2 spray on it. Worked a treat.

Is that just fogged over or some electrostatic element?

Element. Buttons in the bathroom and in the master bedroom. I have a video but, these forums make it challenging to upload lol.

I stayed at a hotel in Tokyo that had that too. Pretty cool. I think a hotel I stayed at in Mumbai even had it. I was really surprised.

Ok, someone explain to me why some places have glass walls so if one is showering/in the tub they can see outside of the bathroom...what's the deal? Adverse to any hint of claustrophobia?

Well. Sometimes you don't want to walk all the way into the bathroom to see if that's where you left your phone. This makes things more efficient.

Or, someone's wife can from the safety of the bedroom, yell at her husband for not putting the seat down. Again, without having the traverse all the way to the bathroom.

There's only one reason you need to look into the bathroom from the bed. And no, it's not to make sure your housekeeper didn't miss a spot.

When I left it "open" however, it did give the illusion of more space somewhat. What I didn't like is if the light is left on in bathroom, it's ridiculously bright.

We replaced a small tub with a walk-in shower for my mother-in-law when we moved her into our home. The shower didn't have a door as we needed to be able to get a wheelchair in and out. After we moved her into an assisted living facility, we installed this door. Not a fun DIY task with 3/8" glass.

Still dope of you to do all that for your MIL.

Whenever I move I always beeline for the master bathroom and I'll even check the other bathrooms. I only like giant walk ins. I hate anything else. Loathe. Fuck yo curtains!!! Fuck yo tubs!!!
