Hey, welcome back!
Schirripa is hilarious as a commentator on VH1 shows - "Who's a MILF? Seinfeld's mom - yeah, that's a MILF. Or Ray Romano's mom. Damn, MILF!"

hey, i made 2 new friends from hofstra this weekend! I was there on saturday night. Thats the deceiving thing about campus's on long island. During the actual school year, october-march- so depressing and dead. But if you visit after april they transform lol. Youll see. The location is still great though and you wont be bored.

Here is my situation: The school isnt in NYC so there isnt a mass public transportation system. They do have trains to get to and from the city, but no subways in Long island. The school provides a bus to take students to the train and back 24/hrs a day. I can walk from my apartment to campus. So here are the pros of having my car: -I get to drive her! (obviously) -Dont have to depend on anyone for a ride to run errands, go shopping or meet up with friends -I can come and go as i please -Having comfort in knowing that i have a car whenever i need. Cons: -Parking is a bitch at my school -Shipping the car back and forth will cost around $2-3K -When i come home for winter or summer break the car will sit there for weeks without being driven -Winter is harsh and the salt/snow isnt good for it -I wont have a car when i come home to visit I discussed some alternative options with my friends and parents. They said to leave my bmw here in SD, see how long i can last without a car, and if i desperatly need one, then buy a used $5-6K car out there. Because just the shipping on my bmw will cost 1/2 that. Plus if it snows, or when i leave it to come home, i wont be as paranoid. Any suggestions?!

I think just walking it out w/ out a car would be the more econimically viable alternative since it won't cost you as much(forgot to factor in the money you could save on gas). You'll have to read up in your owners manual on storing the car over several months so that your car continues to work ok for when you come back home.

I was thinking more if i brought my car out there, and i came home for winter break *6 weeks* how would it run? And summertime is 2 monts or so.. I dont wanna ship back and forth in summer. But i do want a car, what if i had to get groceries or supplies and i got no ride. Dont know.

Don't take car - buy another one because of the reasons you mentioned and plus, get something more safe as you probably never driven in deep snow in your life before - also remember that these east coasters don't use chains as us pathetic Californians are enforced to do.
Also, get with the program and stop saying 'subway' - as it's a forbidden word in NY. Subway is synonomous with the train (they only use the word "train") - they look at you like a tourist if you say 'subway' hahahah. Damn weird east coasters.
