I just picked up my M2 after PPF and they did the track pack, which included the portion above the doors (which I was unaware of), but only half way...leaving a visible seam...should I just leave it (it annoys me), or have them remove it?

My first PPF full front and Ceramic everything else's was my first X5M, My M8 Front PPF and Ceramic everything else's My M5 Full PPF. I would never ever have a car again without PPF in the minimum of the full front and Rockers. IMO

Most High end PPF will self heal when it gets hot, worst case is if the damage won't self heal have that section replaced under warranty.
STek PPF is my #1 XPEL PPF is #2 (Both Self Heal) . NEVER get XPEL ceramic as it dosnt self heal, and don't waste $ on ceramic coating PPF. |

I can't justify the price for my usual ~3year car ownership. I'd rather spend the money on some other upgrade for the car.

I dunno why ppl have to slag other ppl for their choices haha. Just do your own thing. I'm only gonna explain my reasons for NOT doing PPF: I admire ppl who wanna keep their cars 'perfect' but it's a losing battle, eventually there will be *something* that will damage the paint and then I'd be feeling like crap having spent 4 or heck maybe 5 figures on the thing. Same goes for those lift sys costing 5 figures, one scratch and it's over lol.

I would not do full, only what’s front facing. The one time I got the rear done, someone tapped my bumper and it looked worse. Film tore, dirt accumulated underneath and looked terrible… I eventually had to pull off the whole film to get the bumper resprayed.
After that experience I just do bumper, hood, mirrors and pillars. Side skirts is nice but only worth it if you do it day 1. Last edited by 3002 tii; 08-15-2023 at 09:19 PM.. |

I don't care for rock chips and scratches. I see my vehicles as tools for enjoyment and do not care about keeping it 100% pristine. That does not mean that I will neglect it, but the usual dings/scratches that all come with car ownership do not faze me. |

I plan to keep my car for the long haul, and if I knew the PPF would last the life of the car, I would have done it. However, I couldn't justify the thousands of dollars initial outlay for what is essentially an uncertain benefit (how long will it last, when will I have to reapply, limited protection for large objects, horror stories on install, marginal benefit to resale value, cost to reapply if damaged, and potential damage to car's paint, however unlikely, when it does eventually need to be removed and replaced). It's worth noting I don't put a lot of miles on the car, so that also plays into the value equation. If you're piling on highway miles, it may be worthwhile. There is also no price you can put on piece-of-mind, so I can't fault either path here.
And no, I don't have a G87, so I didn't vote in the poll, but I'm frankly not sure why the specific car in question matters, y'all G87 snowflakes

With a custom paint like tanzanite blue, which I absolutely adore, combined with the fact that the provincial govt here doesn't use salt but instead uses rocks the size of boulders on the roads in winter, PPF was a no brainer for me.
I went with Xpel Ultimate Plus last year, all around the X5, on every panel except the roof. And a year later I can honestly say that it was worth every damn cent. There's not a single scratch anywhere, no swirl marks, and the X5 looks factory fresh after every single wash. It is driven mostly on the highway over long distances so I was expecting to see some rock chips and dents in the PPF, especially on the front bumper and the hood, but absolutely nothing so far. And the best part is that it's self healing. So even if I see minor spider webbing in the PPF, as a result of my own actions with the microfiber cloths because I always use a touchless wash, all I need to do is park it in the sun for a few minutes and all the swirls disappear and the film looks mint. Couldn't be happier

If you're referring to just the regular XPEL Fusion, that's just a ceramic coating (not PPF) and no ceramic coating self heals |

Yep, probably adding "properly" would have been better. They can claim it "self heals" but the ceramic coating actually comes off. You may still have beading/sheeting properties but it'll be greatly reduced in the areas that are affected.

Getting my G29 ppf this week. Bumper (650), hood (990), rockers (480) and interior center console (80).
First time ever doing ppf, but looking forward to it. The road construction in the ATL is crazy so chips are just too frequent. Going with Suntek as it seems to be a little thinner and clearer than Xpel. Probably not as durable, but not being able to see it key for me.

Im using Atlanta ceramic coatings and ppf, fka Buff Guys. Way up in alpharetta but very helpful on the phone and in person. Nice shop with about 5 cars in process at any given time. They offer xpel and suntek. https://www.ceramiccoatingandppf.com...rs-and-trucks/
