335 owner here, I think the 1 series is going to be a great car. Can't wait to here about what a 1 feels like when ramped up with Proceded v2 to about 420hp and 450lb tq.

I think you can not generalize about a group of people, there are idiots on every message board.

I'm glad someone at e90post linked this thread, another forum to keep me occupied. I think the 1's going to be a killer car, and what do you know, I will still love my 335i!

Welcome picus! I've seen you on other forums and you're certainly welcome here! And your dad-blasted 335i...

I agree but you got to admit there is a heavy concentration of egomaniac jerks over there witch really take away from the helpful informative people and the credibility of the forum. when you look between the chest beating there is a lot of great information and helpful people over there.

True, and I don't have a beef with E90post. An admin over there asked everyone to cool it which I will respect. We made our point about the few that had their diapers in a wad and generally got some agreement about that. Anyway, those that have a beef with the 1ers will carry on no matter what we do. I'm lettin' it go...

Wow... those guys over there are ridiculous.

They are saying the SAME exact things I could have said (being an M3 owner) when their E90 was released. I mean when it was released I thought it looked horribly asian (apparently as they think the 1 series looks??) and really far from BMW's roots. BMW is going back to the basics with the 1 series which is why I'm purchasing one. That being said I'd never hate on anyone because they had a lower model car than me. Jesus... they drive a 3 series and they're acting like they're whipping a spyker.

I'm so interested in the 1 because it's going to be an awesome, practical car that I can track. I'm going back and forth between a lotus and a 135i. (Performance vs Practicality) I could get a 3 series if I wanted one but it's too big for me and I just don't like it.

Those guys are what have been ruining the BMW community for years. Hopefully we can get back to mutual admiration with the 1.

Totally man. The attitude on that board is completely out of control. Several months ago, when I knew I was going to need to get a new car within a year or so, I was bummed that BMW didn't make anything that would keep me in the brand. I loved the TT in the 335, but the car wasn't something I could ever see taking to the track.

This was the first time I could not see myself purchasing a BMW product, which bummed me out a bit. Not because I couldn't afford something in the line, but because I couldn't find anything I really loved. Enter the 135...this is the first time I've been really stoked about a BMW product since the E46 M3. The 135 is going to keep me in the BMW family not because it's cheap, but because it earns high marks in just about every criteria I use to judge a car: Power, Streetability, Trackability, Modability (ability to be modded), MPG, looks, cost and potential for fun. Yeah I make up lots of words in my evaluation criteria, but the 135 really got the best overall marks for me. As it's been mentioned on here before, it's no beauty queen, but looks aren't #1 for me, even though I think the car still looks cool. If looks were the main factor, I'd get an S5.

Anyway, to support your point...we are all fellow bimmer owners or soon to be bimmer owners...what's with the divide? Sibling rivalry? Jealous that the little guy gets the TT? Get over it. There is good and bad for both models, and buyers are going to buy what suits them best. Personally, I don't need a machine to hand me my seatbelt, and other gadgetry that I may feel is useless...but maybe the 3-owner disagrees. That's cool...I'm not going to crap all over their car just because it does or doesn't do things, or costs more or less than the car that I like. The 3 has X-drive...the 1 doesn't (yet). Anyway, we are all gonna see each other at BMWCCA events, we might as well bury the hatchet, or we can always see how things shape up on the track...

Funny you should mention that. M3post and bimmerforums were rife with M3 owners lording their superiority over lowly 335i drivers when the E92 first came out.

"Your car is ugly"..."You can't afford an M3"..."Doesn't handle like an M"..."...and did we mention your car is f'n ugly"...etc...

Eventually the 335i's overall performance and easily modded N54 shut most of that crap down. Now it looks like some of the picked-on 335 guys have a chip on their shoulder... and 1ers give them an easy target for a little mindless revenge. They better enjoy the cheap shots now...that door will close next spring.

The really big problem for 335 owners is that while the 335 vs. E46 M3 comparison was kinda apples-to-oranges, the 335/135 performance comparison is very direct and brutally skewed against them. Same drivetrain but in a lighter, cheaper package, likely faster in stock trim, and just as responsive to mods. I can certainly understand how that could get under their skin.

Great post!! (Even if you did add some words to the English language - we need to notify the 'dons' at Oxford to update their dictionary. ; -)

According to 'scott26', our BMW insider, they aren't going to do a 135xi (or a 128xi for that matter). Oh well . . .

Sadly enough you can find that sort of crap on almost any automotive forum. e90post is actually a pretty good forum in general, you just have to wade through some of the useless posts, like any forum. Us 335i owners got a lot of flack from M3 owners, it was silly then and it's silly now. I'd buy my wife a 135i, but I'm afraid I'd drive it more than my 335i.

Most of these e9x owners are upset and disgusted with the new 1er becuase it will be faster than their e9x for less money...

I'm just glad I didn't jump on the wagon when the new e92 came out... now I can get the 135 that is faster and cheaper!!
