Maybe this pig of a wagon is an SUV with a lower center of gravity, but that is definitely not the case traditionally.

Traditionally the wagon offers a similar advantage over an SUV as that of a sedan (especially from an enthusiast perspective), while at the same time adding more storage/usability.

Lighter weight (from smaller dimension, smaller wheels and tires and suspension components, less beafed up frame for towing, not always AWD/4WD as most SUV will be)
Lower center of gravity
Option for 2 wheel drive, hopefully rear.
Manual transmission (yes some SUV as well, but they are not remotely as sporty)
Better gas mileage (though not important from the enthusiast standpoint).

They already have…it’s called the XM. I drove that a year ago and didn’t like it but I have hope the M5 Touring will be better. It appears to corner relatively flat.

Absolutely, when pushing the limits, having the Tire Rack on speed dial might just save the day, safety first. BMW has a diverse lineup to cater to different preferences and budgets, it’s all about finding the right fit for each driver’s style and budget. If someone has one of these and drives it even moderately quick, they better have the Tire Rack on speed dial.
Waiting for the real deal can be quite exciting. June 26th can’t come soon enough! Game on!

For the size and supposed weight of the car, it looks really composed and balanced in video. Very excited to see what the numbers look like!

You mean on subscription status with credit card and address saved in the website so they can send out tires every 6 months?

Why should be weight a big factor as disadvantage for SUV?
Are we supposed to track SUV?
I mean its a blessing to have +600HP under hood of a SUV serve the purpose but definitely that purpose has nothing to do with agility or any track related stuff or even 0-60 / quarter mile.

Really?
How much power your tuned F31 has?
I dont have the same feeling you have when I compare it to my previous F80 M3 / F82 M4

This will be a great car, no doubt. I like it a lot too. The price bracket and size is definitely an issue for some of us that would've jumped on the M3 touring. That car would've been a market maker without competition in the US.

A wagon is nothing like an SUV. It has a much better center of gravity and polar moment of intertia, due to not being on stilts.

The chassis is the same as the sedan with the exception of a bit of extra metal out over the rear, which is dealt with by stiffening things up a bit. BMW tourings are built more like shooting brakes anyways. The recent M3 touring is a good example of how the sedan and wagon perform almost identically.

The car here does look large and heavy, but it seems to corner pretty flat and looks quite composed. What BMW beyond the 2 series is not large and heavy now? Heck even the new M2 weighs as much as my G31.

Yeah.. I know that there's a merc AMG E class.
AMG is taking a massive dump right now. Sad to see.

I saw a 2017 CLS63 AMG today and she was gorgeous. The V8 rumble was sexy… Mercedes is losing their mojo.
