Design is personal taste.. yes I have but also keep in mine the 540 and 530 aren't the top end... it's like the M5 will get all the leather on the dash and have a plus up leather package which is not on the i5 or regular 5. Average person that spends 70k on a 530 likely isn't going to pay 2-3k for extra leather on the dash and doors.

They may give the m550e a step up.

They do the same with the 3 vs m3.

In all these videos we can't use them as final spec as they are all pre production cars and basically one offs.

As far as features vs standard and no market research...if they ask consumers do you want soft close doors, massage seats, a seat belt extender for 2500 bucks most will probably decline.

But if your self closing trunk for 300 bucks..all in

For such a flagship vehicle, it is sad to see the top teir luxury options not available for this.

As a sport vehicle, although the power is very impressive the additional weight will hold back this power. Aside from this, breaking, handing and everything else that suffers from a heavier car will be deminished.

I am excited to see this car roll out, but weary to see how it actually performs on the road, and in sales.

Actually the EU emissions have changed since this was devopled..

I don't think this will be dropped I think the tech will be refined. The weigh cause is batteries.

If you think about it the tech in this car is already out dated per say as this car was pinned out years ago. Bmw if tech allowed could introduce lightier batteries with more power density and cut weight but right now the tech isn't there.

I see the future as being plug in hybrids, hybrids and EV as market demands.

Right. I was under the impression that the i5 M60 is the M550 replacement.

Yeah, I don't disagree. That being said, the new 5er materials are worse in quality vs its predecessor. There are also missing features - rear climate control, comfort access on the rear doors, etc. Cost cutting. We will see if the M5 fixes this in some ways, but I'm not holding my breath...

Yeah, I will be getting a M5 once I'm done with the XM I've got. An hopefully by then they will address the options and have a comp out.

My gosh, am I glad I got my G82 when I did instead of waiting for the new M5 as I considered... I'm in a loaner currently (flat tire due to screw in it), and it has the same system, there's no buttons anymore to control music on the steering wheel, you have to use the scroll wheel. Extremely annoying. The shifter is just basically a clít that u flick, no actual shifter. You cant feel for buttons in the dark, without looking. You have to look, and try to aim to the touch screen, for everything, since the knob in the center console to control the screen is gone. Changing temperature, etc, is a major pain now. The bluetooth is problematic, and won't connect to recent calls or anything half the time for telephone. Everything that was nice and simple, and aided usability and functionality, is gone, and/or problematic now. The exterior isn't bad, but it doesn't stand out much at all from a 5 series, and the front end is unnecessarily long on the bottom half, and sticks out oddly. The grill is very long and basically touches the headlights, but its unproportional and should be taller, if its going to be so wide. And I'm not a fan of the taillights either, it gives mercedes vibes. I am so happy I got my G82 when I did, and despite my few criticisms of it, it is FAR superior to the design of this. It's very sad to see what they've done.

I would like to tell the M CEO, that yes these are things M5 customers want. Weight aside, we still care about the other things that make an M5, an M5.
Dont forget the disgusting lower Blank Black Speaker grilles on the front doors....insanely cheap looking. How hard is it to put a nice looking grille with lighting? Its honestly so sad and embarrassing. No shame in releasing a truly inferior product...

And then you get corporate simps on here pretending like people having standards for an M5 is somehow unreasonable

Cost reduction, cost reduction, and cost reduction.

In a matter of few years, BMW will have a reputation of Jeep and Chrysler quality.
I placed an order for the i5 M60 to replace my current 2022 540i, but I was shocked how cheap and crappy is the new 5 Series. Then, I canceled my order right away.

After 20 years of ownership, I might ditch BMW all together.

This company is going totally in a free fall status soon.

Question about the front seats' black part. Yeah, they have been doing that kind of design for some time, but why use that new shiny black leather? It looks so cheap, like a fake one and you already see all the wrinkles and imperfections.

Let's hope soon they have the option to spec a car with one-tone interior and something like Tartufo.

I've already test driven two 530i's, a 540xi, and the i5 M60.

None of the interiors were up to par. The front dash looks too plain and dead like the Dead Sea, just completely motionless. What bothers me a lot are the top of the door panels. There's just so much real estate in that region of the door panel that is flat and smooth, no aesthetic designs at all like the G30. And now with the deletion of the air vents, the interior has become so linear, there are no angles or curves. It honestly reminds me too much of the Tesla Model 3 interior. Too minimalist. Even the new Mercedes E-Class interior with so much glass and screen space looks straight from the future. It's cool, even with no air vents.

Does anyone else think the iconic glow on the newer grills is cheesy? Especially on an M5? Are they marketing these cars to teenage girls now? Can we bring back the aggressive scowl at some point?

Most of the options are adding more cost and more weight for a car that is already overpriced and overweight
Just think about weight and price of adding seat massage / soft close door or adding $3500 for full leather or $3500 sound system, etc...
Fender grill means extra fender work which is increasing the fender machine work for something with no value other than cosmetic.
