[QUOTE=rlampare ;31724219]Don’t you just hate waiting?

A bit of anticipation is no harm!

Are you on this bus too? If so, what’s your spec and when are you picking it up?

No. I picked up my (new to me) 2020 M 550i In Mediterranean blue which is in like new condition having only 18k miles on it about two weeks ago. It is completely stock, but the dealer represented it had remote start and it turned out it didn’t. I have a date to bring it back to the dealer on Dec 30th to have remote start installed in the vehicle.

Why is remote start so important?

It’s banned in the EU but you can pre-condition PHEVs once they’re either plugged-in or charged.

I live in the north east of the USA and it’s winter, about 30° out right now. And mine is a gas engine only car so there’s really no “preheating” without the engine running in these conditions. And I’m spoiled… So there’s that.

Lol. Fair enough.

That’s -1C in my language. Cold, but not the arctic circle either. I put down a few winters in New York in the 90s… wowsers, a few of those were baltic!!

The EU is merciless on emissions. We’re currently at Euro VI -Beginner’s Guide and Euro VII is in the post, even stricter.

This is why the G9x is hybrid and why we don’t get remote start on ICE-only vehicles -EU doesn’t want fossil fuels being burned when the vehicle is stationary.

Whether or not you agree that this has any relevance to climate change is one thing, but it definitely improves air quality in urban settings.

Yikes! I looked over the attachment Euro Vll and have to say I don’t think we’re quite ready for that over here. We had a President Biden, who was pushing us hard in that direction but we just got rid of him in favor of Trump who is mantra is “drill baby drill” so I guess we’re gonna be burning some high octane here for a bit longer.

“Drill baby drill”. I lolled out loud at that! 🤣🤣

Personally, to use American politics as an analogy, I’d be neither fully Red nor fully Blue and sit in the middle. I like elements of both sides. So, on the emissions piece, I favour clean air. I dislike pollution for the sake of pollution.

I’m also an asthmatic so I’m more sensitive to poor air quality than others! So there’s that.

I’d love if there didn’t need to be restrictions and we could have the 5.0 V10 back with a few turbos slapped on for good measure, throw in some carbon and get the weight to 1600kg! I can keep dreaming!

I’ve no doubt G9x is the result of rigorous study of the rules by very smart engineers who have navigated them as best they could. 🤷🏻‍♂️
