Best handling car by far ! Very stable / suspension calibration perfect balance between comfort and agility / feeling at the wheel was at the level of my 992 carrera s ! Braking without any dive
Cons
Full EV so even with the biggest battery at that time (2022) and with the very cold winters here in Canada dropped to 250km (around 150 miles) so not enough to fit my lifestyle !
Trunk is quite smaller than the other cars size ranking from biggest to smallest is RS6/M5/macan/taycan st
Value dropped like crazy !
2) 2024 Macan gts (ICE)
Pros
Shortest wheelbase so good agility but more body roll as it’s a suv
Very simple nd straightforward car
Cons
Engine sound not the greatest
Dated platform / driver interface / screen size
Too common
3) M5 Touring
Pros
Interior design and tech several generation vive Porsche’s
Torque down low of the taycan and revs high like the Macan so never tapers off like the taycan
Looks the most modern and aggressive !
Suspension and overall comfort
Cons
Feels big ! Not heavy just huge not easy to sense its limit
Fake sound from speakers or no sound at all from insane of the V8
Settings are complex !
RWS doesn’t feel natural like the rear end is loose
I ve driven all these car but only own the m5 but i will say spot on on everything you said!
I think at some point in life when u own multiple cars you know that no car can do it all
You choose the good daily driver car and the fun weekend or track car
What is your take on the 718 spyder RS?
I never drive one and can not get to test drive one
I may pull the trigger this year

I have a 718 Boxster GTS, the 718 Spyder is on another level sound and looks wise but not a practical daily car , Pure weekend due to NVH and roof . My Boxster GTS is so comfy, actually comfier than my previous 991.1 cab and still an awesome handler due to mid engine design - The alcantara interior in GTS and Spyder is so cool looking and more comfortable to sit on than Porsche leather

I have a Merc gle 43 amg coupe and want to add a sedan to replace my 535xi - Debating between the Mercedes E53 amg hybrid or a 2025 red Bmw M5

Thank you for the feedback
The 718 gts is a very nice car and it also sounds good with alp but the high revving gt3 engine on the rs and the intake next to your ear is another level sound wise
And it should also hold value hopefully
But 200k is no slouch
If money is no problem will get the m5 anyday over the amg
More presence and still a real M and handles and drives like one vs amg is an amg lite st the end of the day and not that aggressive and no v8

Thx for the feedback on M5
Loved the performance seats in the e53 amg hybrid , Will test drive an M5 , hopefully can get all seasons in the M5 when replacing worn out summer tires after a year as it is painful to swap between summer and winter rubber in the North east . I liked what I saw on the YT video : M3 vs Panamera vs rs7 , liked how M5 looked.

I have all seasons on my Boxster GTS and on street driving I don't find much difference vs summer rubber in fair weather and so much traction in foul weather

Coming to 718 Spyder , sound is very intoxicating, sitting in those buckets feels so racy but for me it is too much as a DD but many love it it especially as a weekend exotic car

Spyder RS are very loud …. Fun for a short drive but too much for a daily summer car or maybe I am too old lol !
Plus they are losing value more than a gt3 RS or even a non RS gt3 …. Plus the cloth top is really a hassle to handle

Thanks for the feedback
Love the trio in the pic!
Yes the rs spyder is intense and i am surprised it is losing value given it will be limited after this year and no more production later on and porsche never produced a car like it
Maybe long term will be a classic/collectible

Again although supposedly to be so unique in the fact that
1) a cayman / boxster has never been equipped with the gt3 engine
2) was supposed to be the last of the ice series
But change of plans for porsche now switching back to ice engines and the fact that investment wise in uncertain times buyers go to « safe » choices and in that point of view a 911 will always remain the more sought after porsche sports car

I’m an advocate for having the right tires for the job. Granted I’m holding out till 2026 to decide on a G90 (hoping for some more options), I’m also north east and I only do high perf summers (MP4S) or Alpin 5 for winters. I’ve seen people total vehicles out recently heading home in westchester, pulled over only to see balding all seasons in snowy conditions.

Granted if you aren’t driving in those weather conditions (it sometimes just catches you) then you’ll be fine.

Agree the recent switch back to ice engine by porsche this what i think affected the price of this car
If it wasnt for the look (i do not like the corvette look especially the rear end it looks cheap ) the zo6 ticks all the boxes for fraction of the price of a new porsche

it's super compromised and immensely dated. it's not a track car and it's not a good GT car. I've personally passed on an allocation for one and so have several others ahead of me. Everyone wants a 3RS or S/T or Touring.

I think having a car that does it all is never going to be the same as dedicated cars for each function. A sports car should be just that - manual, 2 door, rear wheel drive a daily should be awd, utilitarian, and capable off-road for the potholes

Probably off topic but while I loved my rs6 I got a manual m2 and Ineos instead…

It appears you and I think alike....scary lol.

E34 M5 for a classic - first love of BMW for me (1989 535 5spd)
F87 M2C for track
G99 M5T for daily

2016 LR4 for camping, hauling, and towing

Winter wheels?

I am new to this BMW world, having lived in the world of Audi and Porsche for the last 35 years. Decided on the M5 Touring instead of an RS6, and am now in the waiting game. I just got confirmation of my order for an M5 Touring. I expect to get the production code in the next day or so.

Dealer tells me they have a build date in March and expect late April delivery so no need for winter wheels / tires this season. I will put full winters on next year – in my experience “all season” tires are in reality, “no season”. And definitely need the real deal in Ottawa, as you know from Montreal.

What have you done for your winter wheels? Did you go with a BMW option? I am not seeing many alternatives on the market so far.
