guaranteed money + 1000 more... or someone flying in from another state which might complicate things if checks aren't written correctly, or has to be put on hold... no brainer there, you're actually mad at him? lol

Money talks, if you would of put money down and had a bill of sale it would have beena better sale.

I can see why you're mad but frankly I'm not surprised. This is how things go in the private party sales world. You offered him $1K less than his asking so how does seller know you won't try to negotiate further when you get there? He got an offer for $1K more than what you were willing to pay and that offer was right there in his face whereas you were still 4 states away and in no position to counteroffer. No matter what you told him he could never be 100% sure you would show up? People flake all the time. People always pull your leg telling you over the phone they'll buy but never do. Happens more often than people that keep their word. So I can't blame him, from an un-biased point of view.
I'm about to pull the same thing to a buyer myself. I put an ad on Calguns on Thursday selling a case of .45acp ammo, which is in severe shortage where I'm from. I've been running bad at poker lately and just wanted a little extra spending money for the weekend. I priced it at an excellent price, cheaper even than Walmart, and the guy that responded he'd buy it first was hard to get hold of, then flaked out and didn't pick up the phone when I called at the time we were supposed to meet up. He had said if he didn't buy it Friday night then most likely Sunday. Well, the weekend has passed and I don't need the money anymore so if he calls on Sunday he's not getting the ammo. Fuck him. Shoulda jumped on the offer when he had the chance, he had a hell of a deal for stuff that is HARD to get. Some people think if they got the money they are the boss. Not so in my world. I got the goods so I'm the boss! Just remember when it comes to selling or buying privately there's often lots of problems. Flakes, scams, cheats, liars, etc. |
