For grins I looked around.
In Houston.
08 Cayman S
Atlas / black
Manual
43k miles
Asking 33.9
30 would probably take the car.

Very well done video. Hard to watch some of the so called professionals.

The .2 generation began in 2009, which added less troublesome engines, direct injection, an optional LSD and a few minor styling tweaks. They cost a little more, but tend to be worth the extra money. There are so many Caymans used as weekend cars that finding one with very few miles is pretty easy.

The BRZ has the advantage of being new, having a warranty and cheaper factory and aftermarket parts. I've driven both and am not really any closer to a decision.

What a fantastic review, Sam. Don't hold back from your style! 'Rev the piss' should be in every review done by a car lover.

Shoot

Id of sworn it was 08.
Guess I would have lost any bet.

Can't beat new is true but I love the hunt for cherry pre-owned.

Somewhat rare MCS out in LA has my eye right now.
I miss my MINI more than any of the 20ish vehicles I have been in.

Happy hunting.

Same, looks like we're probably both shopping the same cars. I used to live in Laguna Beach, so heading out that way to pick something up has some appeal, and of course I've been scouring Texas too.

Even though I'm 6'2", the back seat of the BRZ is actually swaying me more towards it than the Cayman, and I'm a cyclist, so being able to cram the bike inside the BRZ is also a nice option. I prefer the way the Porsche allows for a bolt on roof rack (like my M Coupe did) but that doesn't really help when dealing with the parking garage at work.

Actually, I am not sniffing for a Cayman.
New...you bet.
75 + for a manual S. Not at this moment in time.

I am 6'2" also and those MCS' shocked me regarding room and utility when I turned in my 07 335 @ BOD . Walked over to sniff a MINI and got the deal I wanted a week later. Funny how they do that when you play hard to get.

When the BRZ had just come out I saw one at a Kroger near HP. The guy came out as I was looking. Older fella. He knew cars just by visiting for a few minutes.
He absolutely loved his.

Yeah, the BRZ is tiny inside, it feels much, much smaller than my M Coupe or even Miata did. Fortunately I love small cars and my wife's 5'3", so she doesn't mind.

Yeah, the new Cayman is great, and actually one reason I'm having a hard time buying the "old" one. I know I'd just end up wanting the current one. I guess I run a similar risk with the BRZ once/if the STI version comes along.

I have a few friends with MCS's, they're great cars. I just prefer rwd, but they really are fun. Good luck.

I'm still holding out for the new M3 being great... but just in case it's not... I would really really love to find myself a minty E46 M3 Competition Pack in manual. I think it will be remembered as the purest modern M3, even if not the fastest or grippiest. For the NA inline 6, for the reasonable weight, for the old-school looks, for the old school steering feel.

And of course... I've always dreamed of owning a mint E30 M3, but that dream is not an easy one to realize. I would be delighted just to be able to drive one for a weekend. What a treat that will be.

Sam
I hope to experience one too as well someday.

Love your S65 "dream" - how amazing would that be...?

You've got one of the best stables around - come back and let us know what you decide to add next!

Just thought I'd throw this out there for shits and giggles... I was perusing CL and came across it.

In the immediate future, no. No plans as of right now. Wouldn't that be something though? I'd love to see some of our wheels on a BRZ or FR-S!

Nothing a 5x114.3 conversion and some redrilling won't solve though.

Wow that was like a professional review when I expected an amateur crappy one. Good Job! Not sure I agree with some of the points made but you did a great job and it didn't bore me.

like:
the video was well made. the production and filming was good.
clear visual images and clear sound.
the panning and phase shifts of the the frames was very good.

dislike:
the presenter. looked like a kid that wants to look older (has a beard for effects).
in fact he might be old but doesnt have the visual appearance that should be in front of a camera.
the subject, BRZ, stuck in a bmw forum. not to sure where to go with that.
music, it wasnt exciting nor dramatic for the information given.

I'd to see what good presenter you look like.

What does it do in a BMW forum? It is because that the car BMW doesn't want to build, yet made BMW what it is today.

Brad Pitt was busy.
It is in the General Automotive - non BMW section.
I would have liked some Rob Zombie audio and video inserts .

Yea presenter should have hair and makeup crew. Should have been shot on a better camera and more professional editing done. Maybe contact Dreamworks?

Def should have done a review on BMW's only since this is the non-BMW section.

No explosions, car flipping, perhaps you need a larger budget when you think of sharing these amateur quality videos. We needed a love story too, started to lose focus halfway through this blockbuster hit.

/sarcasm.

Dude, you have to be trolling right?
