Guana Cay in the Bahamas. Rent them a house for a week. It's the perfect getaway. Quiet, secluded, and the houses aren't as expensive to rent as you think. Everybody knows everybody there and it's completely safe. It was one of the best R&R vacations I've ever had. Make sure they stay Sunday for the pig roast at Nippers bar

Yeah we heard stuff from locals about MS-13... We never witnessed or felt any sort of danger. We dressed down, no jewelry, went to heavily populated areas (police had a presence everywhere, carrying AK's , shotguns & machine guns...) the community we stayed in had armed guards patrolling.

I once travel to Ireland when the IRA and the Brits we going at it, I was young and naive at the time and was traveling with very season business travelers. and as we walked through Heathrow airport and we never left the security section but had to go through special security to get on the plane to Ireland and there were all kinds of arm guards and I realize that maybe I should not have been there. I found out that the week after we left is when the IRA attempt to bomb the airport with Mortars from a local neighborhood. luckly the mortars were war world 2 surplus and defective and the did not blow up.

I don't know about the Bahamas, but I've been to Cancun the past 2 years and I felt no danger at all. That being said I'm not one to go wondering around. We had private transportation from the airport to the resort and back. We did not leave the resort. If I want to go exploring then I would probably skip Mexico.

im in mexico right now at a family condo. Iv been coming here for about 8 years now and love it.

HOWEVER i would probably pick bahamas for your sister and her husband.

eek, i fool no one.

on a serious note, we have a place along the water in Acapulco, and in the tourist strip youll find dozens upon dozens of a military guards so you feel a mixture of safe and terrified lol. If you are looking for trouble you will find it, but overall i think crime here is going down.

I think the bahamas is a better destination to go for the duration op stated... "Atlantis hotel" is a must!
